Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask

Ever since I was introduced to S-Korean/French hybrid Erborian and fell in love with their BB cream, I’ve been looking forward to see what they would come up with next. The Bamboo range sounded like it was right up my alley. The star of the range is the Erborian Bamboo Waterlock mask; a refreshing aquagel moisture mask enriched with a unique complex of bamboo sap and fibres to help skin feel smoothed, hydrated and plumped with water. As gel masks and moisturizers are all the rage right now (also check out my review of the Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Watery Cream), so I was curious to give this take from Erborian a try.

Bamboo sap has been used for its medicinal properties in Korea for centuries, which explains why it’s so commonly found in Korean skin care. It contains amino acids to help hydrate and plump the skin. The bamboo fibres contain natural proteins and lipids to lock in moisture, resulting in radiant and dewy looking skin long after the mask has been applied.

Ingredients: Water , Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol, Propanediol, Phyllostachis Bambusoides Extract, Dimethicone, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate , Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Phyllostachis Bambusoides Juice, Ophiopogon Japonicus Root Extract, Diospyros Kaki Leaf Extract, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Polyacrylate, Lecithin, Acrylates/ C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, PPG-260-Buteth-26, Arginine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Beta-Glucan , Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Parfum/Fragrance, Linalool, Geraniol, Ci 19140/Yellow 5.

The Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask can be used in two ways: as a rinse-off hydro-plumping mask or as a moisturizing leave-on treatment. For the first method you apply a thick layer to the face, leave on for 10 minutes and then gently rinse off with warm water. The second method involves using a thin layer and leave it on until the product has been completely absorbed. Both methods are recommended to use twice a week. I use this as a hydrating sleeping pack right before I go to bed by applying a thin layer over my face and neck. Even though this method is more intense, it is perfectly suitable for combination, oily and acne prone skin types due to the water-based nature and light texture of the formula. The cooling effect also helps to soothe hot or irritated skin, which makes this a good summer staple.

The result is plump, soft and soothed skin that feels refreshed and ready to face the day! This is one of the products that helped my skin get rid of the post-winter dry patches and return to its usual combination state. Added bonus is the subtle and yet uplifting fragrance which has been developed by a prestigious family-run perfumer located in Grasse (France). I absolutely love this green aromatic plant scent and it completes the package of everything I look for in a luxury face masking session. Another winner from Erborian if you ask me.
