Meet the latest edition to my wish list of designer handbags; the Proenza Schouler PS11. Loved and sported by bloggers from all over the world, this baby has failed to avoid being in the public eye on a constant basis, and therefore also in my mind.
Proenza Schouler (pronounced Pro-en-za Skool-er) is a New York based brand that was founded in 2002 by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. The duo met at Parson’s and was working together on their senior thesis, which turned out to be the first collection under the name Proenza Schouler; a derivation from their mother’s maiden names. They draw inspiration from contemporary art and youth culture, which translates into a mix of craftsmanship, attention to detail and tailoring. What really sets them apart though is their use of custom developed fabrics which keeps on blowing my mind..season after season.
Ironically the duo wanted to create a low-key, anti-it-bag with the design of the PS1 back in 2008. Little did they know that bag was going to help them expand their brand’s awareness to unexpected heights. And it looks like the same is about to happen with the PS11.
As a diehard schoolbag-satchel fan (type Cambridge, PS1…), it’s only natural to fall for this little guy. The studded metal details If only it weren’t for the charming little *cough*price tag of € 1.575 I would’ve held it in my arms and never let go. *sigh*

Proenza Schouler is sold at Sien in Antwerp and Smets in Brussels.

NL: Er heeft opnieuw een handtas mijn hart gestolen, en wat voor één! Maak kennis met de Proenza Schouler PS11! Aanbeden en gedragen door bloggers van over de hele wereld is deze kleine tas er niet in geslaagd om onder de radar te blijven, en al helemaal niet uit mijn hoofd!
Proenza Schouler (wordt uitgesproken als Pro-en-za Skoel-er) is een merk uit New York dat werd opgericht in 2002 door Jack McCollough en Lazaro Hernandez. Het duo ontmoette elkaar op Parson en werkten er samen aan hun afstudeercollectie, die ze meteen ook op de markt brachten onder de naam Proenza Schouler; een afleiding van de meisjesnamen van hun moeders. Hun inspiratie halen ze uit hedendaagse kunst en jeugdcultuur, wat zich vertaalt in een uitstekende mix van vakmanschap, oog voor detail en tailoring. Wat hen echter van de rest onderscheidt is hun gebruik van zelf ontwikkelde stoffen die mij elk seizoen opnieuw verbazen.
Weetje: Toen ze in 2008 met hun PS1 schooltas op de markt kwamen, was het de bedoeling om een neutrale, onopvallende tas te creëren; een zogenaamde anti-it-bag. Hij moest vooral tijdloos zijn en zou nooit op de catwalk verschijnen. Dit is echter compleet anders uitgedraaid en vandaag blijft die tas één van de best verkochte items uit de collectie. En het ziet ernaar uit dat de PS11 hetzelfde lot beschoren is. Was het niet van het prijskaartje van een bescheiden *kuch* € 1.585 dan hing deze al lang rond mijn arm te bengelen!

Ik vind die ook zo zo mooi! Maar ik vind de Essentiel bag er toch wel heel erg op trekken. Misschien ga ik het wel eens overwegen om die te kopen ipv deze ooh so gorgeous PS.
