Rouge G de Guerlain in 866 Rose Glacé

Sometimes makeup can be so pretty – too pretty -, that it’s a shame to use. Guerlain is one of those brands that manage to pack their products in such a way that it almost seems like you’re buying a jewel instead of makeup. One of these gems is their Rouge G lipstick range. Did you know the case consisted out of 14 parts? Neither did I, but those parts each have their own function in creating a total experience that is putting on luxury makeup. The magnetic locking mechanism, that click you hear and the opening of the built-in mirror…that’s the unmatched Guerlain Rouge G experience.

Soms is make-up zo mooi – te mooi zelfs – dat het bijna jammer is om het te gaan gebruiken. Guerlain is één van die merken die erin slaagt om hun producten zodanig te verpakken alsof het lijkt of je geen make-up koopt, maar wel een juweel. Eén van deze gems is hun Rouge G lipstickgamma. Wist jij dat de case uit maar liefst 14 onderdelen bestond? Ik ook niet, maar elk onderdeeltje heeft wel degelijk een functie bij het creëren van een totaalervaring bij het aanbrengen van luxe make-up. Het magnetische sluitsysteem, de klik die je hoort wanneer het opengaat en het ingebouwde spiegeltje dat openklapt… dat is de ongeëvenaarde Guerlain Rouge G ervaring.

Guerlain offers le Rouge G in 5 different shades and recently added 2 collectors items to the Rouge G emporium, the Guerlain Fall in Rose lipsticks. 866 Rose Glacé shown here is one of them; a sheer pink nude with pearlescent finish. You can wear it either on itself or use it as a top coat to add more shine to a lip look.

Because I’m a bit pale (understatement), I find Rose Glacé to be a little too sheer. The little color it gives kind of erases my own lip color (unevenly), which can make me look a little ill on certain days. I’m curious if it’ll look better when I’m more tanned. The formula is great though, it has that typical Guerlain fragrance to it and it’s very moisturizing which almost make it feel like a luxurious lip balm. If only it were a little more long-lasting. Oh well, then you have a good reason to bring it out again and feast your eyes..or is that just me?

Guerlain biedt de Rouge G al een tijdje aan in 5 verschillende tinten, maar onlangs kwamen daar 2 limited editions bij, de Guerlain Fall in Rose lipsticks. 866 Rose Glacé is daar eentje van; een transparante roze nude met parelmoer finish die je zowel op zichzelf kunt dragen, maar ook als top coat op een andere lipstick kunt gebruiken om je lip look wat meer glans te geven.

Omdat ik nogal bleek ben, vind ik Rose Glacé toch net iets te transparant. De weinige kleur die ervan af komt zorgt ervoor dat de kleur van mijn lippen minder zichtbaar wordt, en dan nog niet overal gelijk. Op sommige dagen zie ik er dan ook wat ziek uit. Ik ben benieuwd of het effect wat beter zou zijn wanneer ik wat meer gebruind zal zijn (waar blijft die zon?).  De formule is wel lekker hydraterend en doet mij wat denken aan een luxe lip balm. Al mocht het effect wel wat langer blijven als het van mij afhangt… Ah, dan heb je weer een excuus om het juweeltje boven te halen en te bewonderen.

Usually I’m all for the nudes, but this time I’d rather pick the other limited edition shade Rose Grenat, a beautiful bright pink red with intense colour. Who would’ve thought? If this colour is up your alley, by all means go for it. You can find these lipsticks in stores for € 45,70 / $ 49,50 / £ 33.

Normaal gezien ben ik helemaal voor de nudes, maar deze keer geef ik toch eerder de voorkeur aan de andere limited edition kleur Rose Grenat, een prachtige felle roze rode lipstick met intense kleur. Wie had dat gedacht? Maar mocht dit meer je ding zijn.. ga ervoor. De lipsticks liggen nu in de winkels voor € 45,70.
