NOTD | Chanel Coco Blue

With the Summer making a little comeback this week I figured it was about time I started to wear more of my bright coloured nail polishes. This beautiful sky blue nail polish from Chanel is one of them. I had eyed this one for almost a year before I finally managed to get it while I was on holiday in Gran Canaria last year.

Chanel 511 Coco Blue is one of the 3 polishes from Les Jeans the Chanel, a collection released back in 2011 that was only available in Chanel boutiques at first, but later on found its way to the regular beauty counters. It’s a gorgeous light blue shade with the typical Chanel shimmer (which I was unable to capture on photo, sorry). For those who are wondering, it’s a little brighter and pigmented than Riva, another very popular blue Chanel polish, which is a bit more of a pale baby blue.

I’ll stick to it: Chanel doesn’t have the best quality polishes in longevity, but their range of colours is simply exceptional and makes me want to splurge from time to time. Chanel is a nice option if you like to change nail polish every other day, because they usually don’t last longer than 3-4 days without chipping.

I’m sticking to what I said about it before: Chanel doesn’t have the best quality polishes in longevity, but their range of colours is simply exceptional and makes me want to splurge from time to time when a store has special deals on make-up (TIP: I believe Ici Paris XL now has -30% on the second make-up product!!) or whenever I get a voucher as a present. It’s a little too expensive for the quality to pay the full retail price imo.

Chanel is a nice option if you like to change nail polish every other day, because they usually don’t last longer than 3-4 days without chipping because of the liquidy texture, even when you use a top coat. Because this shade is very light I had to use 3 coats to make it completely opaque. I’m also not a big fan of long thin brushes as they are more difficult to work with. With a short, wide brush maybe the job could be done with only 2 coats.

Chanel polishes cost € 21 and are available at most luxury beauty counters.

How do you feel about Coco Blue? Or Chanel polishes in general?
