L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation

I’m thrilled to share that the L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation is coming our way and it’s coming soon! In case you’re unfamiliar with the cushion foundation concept: Lancôme pretty much shined a light on a ‘new’ revolutionary product unknown to the West when they were the first to release the Lancôme Miracle Cushion earlier this year. At first I liked it, now I can’t imagine my stash without one. By the way, did you know more colours have been added to the range? I managed to find the original cushion foundation in Japan, so I’m excited to share with you how this compares to the Western counterparts (review coming soon).

Since then brands are queuing up to release their versions; Kiko Cosmetics has dipped their toes into the cushion concept with a limited edition CC cushion, Autograph (Marks & Spencer) has their version, IsaDora has just released their Nude Cushion Foundation, Pür has their Air Perfection CC Compact Cushion and Estée Lauder has come up with the Double Wear Compact (which is similar to a metal cushion, but with plastic). Although it’s a bit early to say, but it looks like 2016 may officially be the year of the cushion foundation with the arrival of the first official western drugstore cushion compact, the L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation.

This launch shouldn’t really come as a surprise since L’Oréal and Lancôme belong to the same group, but still I’m really happy 1) they chose to launch it globally and 2) that they also opted for more shades than the original L’Oréal Lucent Magique Cushion Lumière they came out with in Japan earlier this year, which was only available in 2 shades.

In Belgium the L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation will be available in 7 shades: 01 Porcelain, 03 Vanilla, 04 Rose Vanilla, 06 Rose Beige, 07 Golden Beige, 09 Beige and 11 Golden Amber (f.l.t.r.).

With both pink and yellow toned options, as well as a really light one and a dark one, they pretty much covered it all. Only women of colour will have to find a way to get shades from The States. As for me, I hope 01 Porcelain will be light enough for my fair complexion, but it looks pretty good. Given the name and the look on Karlie Kloss in the campaign images, it looks like the formula will leave a dewy and luminous finish, just like the original cushion foundations. In the meantime Korea has launched some matte versions as well, so I’m curious to see when we’ll be able to get our hands on a formula with a different finish here, since the ‘matte look’ is still the most popular here. Something I hadn’t seen or heard about before is that L’Oréal will be launching a bronzer cushion compact as well! Great for those who want to prepare for summer and get a subtle, dewy glow instead of a powder finish for on the go. The Glam Bronze Cushion de Soleil Fresh Glow Bronzer will be available in 1 shade as from May, so patience my dears..

More cushions are on the way…

  • Another member of the L’Oréal group, Maybelline, has launched the Super BB Cushion in Asia, so it’s just a matter of time before it gets announced here. Perfect for those with a bit of a smaller budget.
  • For those who prefer higher end products; you won’t be disappointed. YSL is launching their Encre De Peau cushion foundation in Japan in March (5 shades). European launch is expected in the 2nd semester.
  • The Body Shop is also working on a cushion foundation, which is rumored to be made by Amore Pacific, the company behind the original cushion foundation.
  • Not only L’Oréal is launching cushions, but the Estée Lauder family is on it as well. During the S/S 2016 Fashion Weeks, sneak peeks backstage have revealed that MAC is launching a cushion compact called the MatchMaster Shade Intelligence Compact as soon as next Spring or later this month if you live in the U.S. (see below).

  • Earlier rumours have now been confirmed that Dior is working on a cushion foundation as we speak to be released next year. This might be the most exciting release of them all, since they will be collaborating with Amore Pacific.
  • But it looks like sister brand Givenchy is going to beat them to it, by launching the Givenchy Teint Couture Cushion (probably next Spring)
  • While all of these brands have just started creating their own cushions, Lancôme is already a step ahead. In February they will release 4 cushion blushers in Japan. This release is also expected to launch in Europe in the 2nd semester of 2016.
  • Same goes for L’Oréal, who has just announced to release 2 cushion blushers in Japan, the Cushion Glow Blush.

The L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation is expected to be in stores as of early February and will retail for € 17,99. In the U.S., this will be marketed under the True Match range, as the True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation and will be available in 12 shades as of January ($ 16,99). The L’Oréal Glam Bronze Cushion de Soleil fresh glow bronzer will be exclusively available at Di Beauty & Care (BE) as from May and will retail for € 17,99 (1 shade).

Who else is looking forward to this launch?
