Did you know pollution can have a negative impact on your skin? Air pollution can result in damaged skin barrier, delayed skin repair, premature skin aging and pigmentation. Kiehl’s Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque is designed to be a nighttime mask to purify and protect skin. Claiming to protect and defend against the visible effects of pollution, this mask tries to renew dull, unhealthy-looking skin.
How to apply:
“Cleanse and tone your face with your cleanser and toner of choice. Then apply a visible layer to clean skin. Leave on for 5 minutes and gently wipe off with a tissue or cotton wool pad. Pat in excess, leaving a thin protective layer on skin. Allow to work overnight. Recommended for use three times per week at night. Follow your normal regimen in the morning. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with water.”

If you’re looking for an exfoliating mask that will leave your skin brighter without feeling dry or tight afterwards, this does a good job. I like to apply this 1 or 2 times a week right before bedtime. Its creamy and minty fresh green gentle formula is packed with ingredients that will keep your skin hydrated while protecting it from pollution, no matter what skin type you have. If you have acne prone skin, you might opt for a BHA option instead for more effect, but using this one should be fine.
This mask won’t change your skin overnight, focussing on this important environmental issue is sure to benefit your skin over the years. Especially considering Belgium is one of the bad students in the classroom when it comes to air pollution within Europe. Telling your skin you’re ‘buying clean air‘ abroad isn’t gonna fly.
Apologies for the review being rather brief. There’s so much more to this subject, so I’ll do a full article on air pollution and what it does to your skin soon, which will further emphasize the importance of using certain skin care products like the Kiehl’s masque.
