For as long as I can remember, the Guerlain Terracotta bronzers have been a cult classic. Did you know Guerlain was the first to launch bronzers back in 1984? I loved that thing to the moon and back, and it was actually the first luxury makeup product I used up and bought a new one straight away.
This year, Guerlain is bringing us a new installment of the Terracotta range: the Guerlain Terracotta Joli Teint Natural Healthy Glow Powder Duo which come in 4 different shades; 2 for blondes (pink version) and 2 for brunettes (apricot version). As you can see, the choice is rather limited and as far as I can tell these powders can work for you if you have light to medium skin.
Don’t expect them to give you a tan or colour, because that’s what bronzers and blushes are for. The Guerlain Terracotta Joli Teint Natural Healthy Glow Powder duo’s will give your complexion a natural-looking, healthy glow. That sort of makeup that’s barely there, but you can see the difference when you take before and after photos. The complexion looks healthier. Like you got an ‘injection of life’.
As far as the formula goes, I can say it feels really silky and lightweight. You can’t go wrong with these since they all have a good, buildable color coverage with a soft, smoothing texture that looks good on the skin. In my experience, they work the best when swirled together before applying. The warm, natural tone creates a subtle, sunny glow, while the vibrant pop of color revitalizes the complexion. One thing you need to keep in mind is that it’s heavily scented with a blend of bergamot, mandarin, gardenia with woody vanilla notes.
Suggested Usage:
-Sweep the Terracotta brush in a circular motion around the powder to capture both the warm, natural tone and the vibrant, pop color.
-Using Guerlain’s signature “3” gesture, apply by tracing a figure three on each side of the face.
-Start by sweeping across the forehead, down and around the cheekbones, then down along the jaw line to the chin.
-Consider dusting over the cheeks for an added pop of radiant color.
I wear the lightest shade every day and I love how it wears and looks on my pale skin. The powder is incredibly smooth and easy to work with. It never looks overdone, yet my skin looks very different: healthy and very much alive. I’m hoping to be able to wear a darker shade when summer comes, but I’m happy to have found a powder I can wear all year long.
