Summer is almost there, so it’s about time we had a look at the new summer collections and go for a little more colour wouldn’t you say? Dior just managed to pick one of my favourite trends from the seventies as the inspiration for their new summer collection and I’m freaking loving it. I’m not gonna lie, the blushes are thé star products of the collection (not shown here, but do go check it out though!), but the rest shouldn’t be overlooked either. Today I’ll be showing you some more of what the Tie Dye collection has to offer.
“This summer Dior takes the spirit of tie-dye seen among the house collections and interprets it for the face. Colours fluctuate, stretch and transform, as though saturated by light, from hypnotic jade to amber bronze, in spectrums of sandy beige or lagoon blue. The Diorskin Nude Tan Tie Dye Edition available in two sunset tones infusing the skin with a sun-kissed radiance. On the lips, combinations of coral, pink, mauve and red make lips vibrant, whilst on the nails, a wave of grenadine-coloured top coat adds a tie-dye twist to the key summer shades.”
As a huge sucker for nude palettes, I fell pretty hard for the 5 Couleurs eyeshadow palette 746 Ambre Nuit (€ 61). Although it doesn’t seem to have a lot to do with the tie dye concept at first, I can say this palette has the perfect blend of summer shades. The bronze ambers & sand shades add warmth, while the peach pink is just the perfect soft base. When I put this palette next to the other nude palettes I own, it does look different. It reminds me somewhat of the Sahara desert and looks very chic.
Below are some swatches to give you an idea of the pigmentation. Some shadows are better than others, but overall I’m happy with how it performs on my light skin.
I used the lightest colour (middle) on the inner corners of my eyes as well as underneath the water line. I used the peachy pink over the entire lid as a base and blended it out away from the crease. Next, I went in with the matte tan colour (bottom right) and added it to the outer corners of the eyelid and blended it towards the middle part of the lid as well as the crease.
Then, I used the glittery amber shade (top right) for the outer part of the lid as well as underneath the water line. I used the dark chocolate brown (lower left) to draw a line around the outer part of the eye (above and below). To finish it off, I added some more of the peachy pink on the inner part of the eyelid to make it stand out some more.
Dior wouldn’t be Dior if they didn’t add some bright juicy lips into the mix. The range has 6 limited edition Dior Addict lipsticks with a second colour infused in the shape of the Christian Dior logo. In case you’re wondering, it goes from top to bottom. The two color contrast with the maximum shine and color intensity formula is said to make for a subtle, playful “Tie Dye” finish.
I got 2 of these beauties to play with this summer: Dior Addict Tie Dye Lipstick in 002 Coral Trip and 005 Fuchsia Utopia. If you’re familiar with the Dior Addict range, you know you’re in for comfortable juicy lips with a lovely hint of colour. I especially like to wear this formula during summer and these don’t disappoint! I was a little worried about how they would apply with the logo and all, but it seems to go just as smooth.
Needless to say this is my favourite Summer makeup collection this year and it’s highly likely I might scoop up something else when I visit my perfumery. What should I go for though? The blush, the eye reviver palette? Or perhaps a fluid stick? Ah, so many choices! At times like these I wonder why the hell my birthday is in March lol! One thing’s for sure though; the collection is fun and accessible, for those who love nudes and those who love to sport some colour. So there you have it, everybody happy!

Love it!
