Philosophy is one of those brands that managed to sweep me off my feet right from the start. Ever since they first entered the Belgian market I have been anticipating their every release. But what is it about this brand that is so mesmerizing? Is it the original product names? Or the simple old school packaging? Or perhaps the inspiring messages that’s printed on them? Or maybe they just make really good products? My guess is it’s probably all of those things. Their marketing strategy is so typical American, but also brilliant in a way they can make it work anywhere. After all, aren’t we all looking for the same things in life?
Anyway, when they invite you to a hotel for a product presentation, you know they’re up to something good. But what I discovered in this tiny cosy hotel in the centre of Antwerp was beyond what I could’ve imagined. Let me introduce you to the wonderful world of Philosophy…
Erm… can I live here please? #kthxbye
The brand recently expanded their peeling rang with the new Microdelivery Triple-Acid Brightening Peel; a set of 12 individually wrapped, pre-saturated pads that are to be used in just 30 seconds to deliver advanced skin-brightening and anti-ageing benefits. I received some pads for review purposes and I can’t wait to see what this can do for my skin. If you can’t wait for my review, this product is now available for € 70,50 at Ici Paris XL. Other products in the Microdelivery range include the Microdelivery Peel and the Microdelivery Exfoliating Facial Wash.
The award-winning Hope in a Jar moisturizer finally landed this summer. I have already tried a sample size of this during my vacation and I must say I had a very good first impression of the watery texture which felt great for my combination/oily skin. Even though I tried the original version, I didn’t feel like the cream was too rich or that my T-zone was shiny. I might pick up a full-size oil-free version when I finish my current moisturizer and give you guys a hands-on review. You can get your Hope in a Jar for € 40,50 (60 ml). Today, the Hope in a Jar moisturizing range includes 3 Hope in a Jar moisturizers (normal, dry skin and oil free), Eye Hope eye cream, Hope in a Tube firming cream, When Hope is Not Enough serum and replenishing oil and Hands of Hope hand cream.
Keep the Peace is Philosophy’s new range for sensitive skin and consists of a serum, moisturizer and mask to take care of all your redness and sensitivity issues. The super soothing perfume-free serum calms the skin and minimalizes redness. You can use 3 to 4 drops each morning and evening, before you apply your moisturizer. Guys can also use this as an aftershave. For optimal results use the super soothing moisturizer on top and use the mask as much as needed.
The moisturizer (60 ml) retails for € 40,50, the serum (30 ml) for € 45,50 and the instant relief mask will cost you € 30,50 for 120 ml.
A sunscreen is an absolute must to prevent premature skin aging. Take Shelter is their new sunscreen & environmental shield for white and light colored skin which comes in a spf 30 and spf 50 version. Their multitasking formulas are designed to protect the skin from environmental aggressors like harsh sun rays and pollution. The light and invisible texture ensures the product gets absorbed fast. Use this each morning on top of your moisturizer. A tube of 30 ml retails for € 30,50.
Remember the Purity Made Simple 3-in-1 cleanser I loved so much? Apart from the regular cleanser and cleansing oil, it now also comes in a foaming formula. The Purity Made Simple foaming facial cleansing gel & eye make-up remover is the go-to for normal to combination/oily skin. This cleansing range is marketed as the “busy girls cleanser“, and I can totally get why. It works fast and doesn’t irritate the skin nor eyes.
How it works: massage a small amount on the damp face for about 30-60 seconds in upward circular movements. Use damp cotton pads to remove all the eye-make-up and rinse the rest of your face using lukewarm water and pat dry. Ta-daah, makeup-free face! The scent stayed the same unfortunately. You can also use this to clean your makeup brushes. €20,50 for 225 ml.
Brands have been throwing their BB creams at us this year, so it comes as no surprise that Philosophy released their own version, the Be Your Best BB Cream. I’m a huge sucker for BB creams, so this release really piques my interest. The Be Your Best BB cream has a really light texture to ensure a natural look and it combines the benefits of skin care and makeup. The product claims to offer a smooth finish, brighten the skin, counter ageing and pigmentation, hydrate up to 24hrs and protect thanks to it’s spf 30 pa+++. If you have a dry skin you can always wear a moisturizer underneath or a foundation on top if you need more coverage.
The BB creams will be available in 2 shades (light and medium) at Ici Paris XL from mid-November for € 30,50.
Fans of the recipes and drinks shower gels; feast your eyes, Philosophy is releasing a range of lip smackers based on your favorite bath time scents! The range will carry 6 different glosses with a candy-sweet taste and shimmery finish. So which one is it going to be? Raspberry Sorbet? Vanilla Birthday Cake? Coconut Frosting? Take your pick! I received the Raspberry Sorbet gloss, so you can expect a review soon-ish.
The lip-shines will be available from December for € 15,95.
Philosophy’s Winter collection 2012 is inspired by the classical celebrations during winter time. The collection is an ode to the Winter holidays with its signature scents and skin care products to help you get into holiday-mode.
First up is the new Candy Cane fragrance which will be available in a 3-in-1 shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath and a salt body scrub, all wrapped in a special edition red/white packaging. The fresh fragrance is derived from creamy butterscotch and vanilla cream and will cost € 20,50 for 480 ml. The Candy Cane salt body scrub has a minty-sweet fragrance and promises to make your dry winter skin feel silky smooth. The touch of peppermint will provide a fresh feeling and is said to stimulate the senses. 652 gr for € 34,95.
Another new release is the Snow Angel shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath with its fuji apple fragrance and pearly shine that reminds us of snow flakes. 480 ml for € 20,50
And last but not least, the Winter Escape gift box that would make the perfect Christmas present. The set contains the Winter Escape 3-in-1 shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath, body lotion and lip gloss. The fragrance is described as ‘vanilla frost‘. The set of 3 will retail for € 34,95.
(Unfortunately there wasn’t that much time to take a good sniff, so I honestly can’t tell you how they smell like or which scent is my favorite. *sob*) The Winter collection will be available from December at Ici Paris XL.
Note: Info from press release. I have NOT tested these products (unless specified).
Great, my wish list just got longer. Again. What else is new? Oh, and in case you’d like to spend the night here (as much as I do), the name of the hotel is Julien. I really hope they let us spend the night and try everything next time, lolz!

Too bad I couldn’t make it. Had a feeling this was going to be a fab event. Thanks for the pictures though. I was very curious to see how the day went. xoxo
Leuke foto’s!
