Freshly fished out of the bargain bin at Kruidvat, these 2 gorgeous eye shadows from Essence for just € 1 each! These were part of the LE Love & Sound collection Essence released earlier this Summer. I usually stay clear of the bargain bin as they mostly contain leftover products everybody and their mother put their fingers in, but these immediately caught my eye because I had been eyeing them when they first came out and they were untouched!
The first shade of the Essence Love & Sound collection goes by the name of 01 Glastonberry, a pretty plum-ish burgundy shade I can see myself wearing through Fall as well. The lightest one is 02 Make Life A Festival, which is a pretty peachy pink with a dash of orange. Eye shadows can be somewhat of a hit and miss with Essence, but these came out allright! They’re shimmery, have a decent amount of pigmentation and are easy to blend. For the look below I combined them, creating a neutral look that has something extra thanks to the red tones of Glastonberry. It’s a shame though it doesn’t come off quite as strong as in the pan. I think I might try applying it wet next and see if it looks more intense. Using a good base might help too. Here I just used the neutral Adagio powder from the Balm Bon Jovi palette (= fave)!
Some people like to stay clear of red toned eye shadows because they “make you look like you’re ill”. Personally I like the look of eye shadows with a red undertone, especially burgundy ones. They make up the perfect touch to a neutral look and are a Fall staple for me.
