This is it. This is the moment I have been waiting for: finding a powder foundation that just works! I’m sorry Guerlain, but this one just beat you and made it to the top of my foundation list. Ladies (and gentlemen), may I to introduce you to the Chanel Vitalumière Loose Powder Foundation, an expensive little jar of magical powder that transforms my complexion completely.

Actually I was planning on buying the much raved about liquid Vitalumière Aqua Foundation at first, but after noticing the powder in 010 was significantly lighter in colour than the 010 liquid formula, I went for the powder instead.

Let’s start of by stating how amazing the packaging is. Loose powder foundation can be tricky to work with and more than often turn out to be the ones to ruin your white bathroom. Yet this doesn’t have to be the case with the Chanel Vitalumière Loose Powder Foundation thanks to its built-in net. Gently dabbing onto the net with your brush will give you the amount of product you need to get started without getting powder all over the place. Makeup artist Lisa Eldridge will demonstrate how in the video below.

The formulation was finely mild, felt smooth and showed similarities to a liquid foundation in the way how it was easily blended into the skin, leaving a flawless finish. The pigmentation is just enough to make it look natural. Not quite enough to cover redness or blemishes but enough to even out the skin tone.

The amount of coverage you get is partly thanks to the mini kabuki brush that comes with the powder. The hairs are incredibly soft and have a high density which works out great if you want good coverage. On days where I want full coverage, I would wear a BB cream and some concealer underneath. In this case the foundation is used as a finishing powder, which also works out great.

Some drier areas may ask for some extra hydration from your moisturizer (or a good face mist), especially to last through the day, but overall this foundation does an excellent job at staying put all day on my combination type skin. Girls with drier skin complexions better stay clear as it will probably be too dry for you.

For me it’s truly a where-have-you-been-all-my-life type of product, if only it weren’t as expensive. I wish you could just buy refills for this. It’s too expensive to make this my go-to foundation for life, but once in awhile you just gotta spoil yourself and this is the perfect product for that.

Ja klopt. De textuur is heel speciaal, het is een poeder maar de manier waarop hij zich met mijn huid vermengt maakt hem heel bijzonder. Ik ben hier echt heel blij mee. 🙂
