Customisez-Moi

Last Friday I was invited to Brussels for the fifth edition of the Customisez-Moi fashion show, which was sponsored by Coca-Cola Light. This concept offers young designers the chance to compete for an internship at trend agency Promostyl in Paris, a voucher to buy fabrics at Mondial Textil, the chance to participate in a number of international actions of Mod Brussels and a place to sell their creations at RA.

Before the show started the bloggers got the opportunity to go backstage and get a sneak peek at the designs the contestants made for Coca-Cola Light. Each designer had to create an outfit with one of the 3 CC Light girls in mind. This rock chick leather jacket by Pieter Wyseur was my favorite piece of the collection. I could definitely picture myself wearing it, even though I’m not a big fan of big logo’s. The blonde girl with that fabulous hairdo ended up wearing it during the show. I figured as much. It made one hell of a look!

I also just had to include a picture of one of the hosts, which was the most extravagant character I had ever seen IRL. The overdo of statement jewellery, a sequined shirt, fishnet gloves, 2 metallic belts and on top of that a pair of high heels?!

The designs weren’t always that wearable, but I guess that made them interesting. I can only imagine how hard it is for designers to invent something completely new, that is also flattering when being worn. Others just seemed to have fun with it, like the adult version of a baby crawler, made out of sleeping bags.

In the end, Réda Faklani won this fifth edition of Customisez-moi, with her wonderful -ànd wearable- collection as shown in the last picture. Congrats Réda and thanks to Coca-Cola Light for inviting me!
