After my little adventure with L’Oréal Colorista I couldn’t quite say goodbye to the pink hair just yet. When L’Oréal Professionnel so kindly offered me the opportunity to try out their new #Colorfulhair range, I booked an appointment with Thierry Huys, one of their partner colorists who has a salon in Knokke-Heist.
The #Colorfulhair range comes in in 7 bold colours and 1 Crystal Clear (white) shade to make the colour fade. Together they offer you endless possibilities, from very discrete to very extreme, and perhaps more importantly, a very unique haircolour. My initial plan was to go for an all over pastel pink again, but Thierry convinced me to try something slightly different. To give my hair more dimension, he used Hypnotic Magenta on the bottom part of my hair and Pink Sorbet on the top. Both colours were mixed with Crystal Clear to make them more subtle.
In the end the top part with Pink Sorbet was perhaps a little too subtle. The yellowness of my bleached blonde hair was still visible, making it look more peachy than pink. I also experienced the same issue I had with the L’Oréal Colorista Washout; my roots were a lot more pink compared to my ends.

Afterwards I tried to postpone washing my hair for as long as I could to maintain the colour (and also because I really liked the brushing), but after 3 days it was time to wash my hair. During that wash, 90% of the colour went down the drain. This is probably because of the light shade I chose and the poor condition of my hair. The bleaching clearly took its toll. Because #Colorfulhair uses pigments that work on the surface of the hair and not penetrate the hair, the pigments won’t last as long on damaged hair. Depending on the condition of the hair and the colour, #Colorfulhair can last 5 – 15 washes.
My advice if you plan on getting a #Colorfulhair treatment:
1. Make sure your hair is in the best condition possible. Don’t wash your hair beforehand.
2. Bring a picture to give the colorist a clear idea of what you want to achieve, but also make sure to listen to the advice of your colorist
3. Postpone washing and hydrate well if you want to extend the wear of the colour
