Urban Decay Arrives In Belgium!

Well can I just say FINALLY?! We had to wait for nearly 20 years, but Urban Decay is here to take over your makeup routine! No worries if you’ve never heard of the brand (although you being here on this blog, means you probably already have), since it’s a niche brand with its very own unique & edgy philosophy. L’ Oréal acquired the company in 2013 and like with many acquisitions before it, many beauty lovers started to hope for them to bring Urban Decay to more markets. Well my friends, that day has come.

UD’s story begins in 1996, when Sandy Lerner, David Soward & Wende Zomnir launch a line of 10 lipsticks and 12 nail enamels inspired by the facets of the urban landscape and gave them groundbreaking names like Roach, Smog, Rust, Oil Slick and Acid Rain. With colours like purple and green, they sought to fill the colour void the prestige beauty industry was having at the time. They wanted to empower women by giving them the alternative makeup colours they craved and challenged them to defy the stereotypical notions of beauty.

Today, Urban Decay is a global brand with retailers in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., France, Italy, Spain, Singapore and the Middle East and a growing fan base of makeup fans with a hunger for something unique. The brand has won prestigious packaging awards and many of their products have reached a cult status thanks to the support from makeup artists and bloggers. Beauty blogger favourites and worldwide bestsellers include: ‘Naked’ & ‘Naked Basics’ palettes, 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils and Makeup Setting Sprays as seen below.

Also interesting to point out is that Urban Decay is cruelty-free, which means they don’t test their products on animals, nor do they allow their suppliers to test the raw materials on animals. Some of their products are also marked as vegan, meaning they don’t contain any animal-derived ingredients.

In Belgium & The Netherlands, you can find them exclusively at Ici Paris XL as from today! Following the online launch, Ici Paris XL will present Urban Decay displays at their stores in Amsterdam (Kalverstaat) and Brussels (Nieuwstraat) in August. More locations are soon to follow.

Eindelijk is het zover. Urban Decay keert terug naar Nederland en maakt ook meteen de oversteek naar België. Het verhaal van Urban Decay begint echter al zo’n 20 jaar geleden, wanneer Sandy Lerner, David Soward & Wende Zomnir besluiten dat ze genoeg hebben van al het roze, rood en beige die de beauty industrie overheerst en wat meer nood hebben aan kleur. Ze lanceren een lijn van 10 lipsticks en 12 nagellakken geïnspireerd op het stedelijke landschap. Met kleuren als paars en groen boden ze vrouwen de mogelijkheid om te opteren voor alternatieve kleuren en zo de beauty standaarden te trotseren.

Vandaag is Urban Decay uitgegroeid tot een globaal merk met verkooppunten in de U.S., Canada, de U.K., Frankrijk, Italië, Spanje, Singapore en het Midden Oosten. Het merk won ook al enkele prestigieuze verpakkingsprijzen en veel van hun producten verwierven een cult status dankzij een trouwe fan base van make-up artiesten en bloggers. Natuurlijk heb ik het over de Naked en Naked Basics oogschaduwpaletten, 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils en Makeup Setting Sprays, die ondertussen wereldwijde bestsellers zijn.

Nog een interessant puntje aan de Urban Decay producten is dat ze het cruelty-free logo dragen, wat inhoudt dat hun producten niet getest zijn op dieren en ze ook van hun leveranciers eisen dat de ingrediënten niet op dieren zijn getest. Sommige van hun producten zijn ook gelabeld als vegan, wat inhoudt dat ze geen dierlijke producten bevatten.
