What I’ve been doing apart from fangirling over the Isabel Marant x H&M collection? Well, I like to use the little time I have left by running late-night marathons of my new found love: Supernatural. Yeah yeah I know.. the show has been around since 2005 so it’s nothing new. In fact the show has been very popular (particularly amongst women), it has won several prizes and even Belgian tv has had it running for a couple of seasons now, but because I’ve never heard any of my peers talk about it, it stayed under the radar.

The fictional television drama is about 2 not-so-terrible-looking (*cough*hawt*cough) brothers, Sam and Dean, who were raised by their father to hunt and kill ghosts, demons and everything in between after their mother was killed by the yellow-eyed demon. The show follows them on their crusade to kill the demon and find out the truth. They get more than they bargained for and before they know it, they’re caught up between heaven and hell with the apocalypse knocking on the back door.

You get the picture: gods, angels, demons, zombies… Supernatural has the whole she-bang. Call it Buffy 2.0 if you will, but trust me, it’s way better. And for once, it’s a show that doesn’t sugarcoat the story with shiny vampires or whatnot. Now I’m a sucker for romance, but lately there’s just been too many of these kinds of “horror” shows (TVD, Twilight etc). Back to basics please! I’m not gonna lie, you have to have a thing for the sci-fi genre to be able to appreciate Supernatural, but if you do I’m sure you’ll love it too.

The story has kept me balancing on the tip of my seat over 5 seasons now and I’m still not over it. The special effects are of excellent quality (for a series) and make the whole experience even scarier. I’m almost at a point where I want to put salt by the doors and windows too. Probably the best thing about it though, is the way the show is both dark and topped with a nice layer of humour that’ll make you fall in love with its characters. Don’t forget to watch the gag reels on Youtube whenever you’ve finished a season! 😉
