Rituals Oriental Kiss Lip Care

As it’s slowly getting colder and the air is getting drier, chances are your lips are popping faster than popcorn on a hot plate. I never leave the house without a lip balm and if you don’t want lips that look like a shedding snake, neither should you. Rituals recently came up with a new lip care range called ‘Oriental Kiss‘, inspired by an ancient Chinese tradition, featuring 6 products that look absolutely amazing. I’ve mentioned the Rituals nourishing balm as a favourite a couple of times before, so I couldn’t wait to try this new range.

But first, can we just stop and feast our eyes on the gorgeous packaging for a moment? Rituals did a fantastic job at making these lip glosses look like little treasures, with their pretty oriental tubes and long elegant tubes with rose gold caps. I’d say these would make a great stocking filler Xmas gift.

I got to try the Lip Service Moisture Lip Balm, a liquid transparent moisturizing lip balm enriched with almond oil, beeswax and shea butter, and the La Vie en Rose Pale Pink Smooth Colour Gloss, a subtle tinted dusky pink gloss enriched with Vitamin E. Although both don’t feel sticky per sé, they’re quite thick in texture which causes you to be constantly aware of what’s on your lips. This may come in handy when it gets really cold, but for now it can be a little too much. I’m also not that big of a fan of the Lip Service balm’s taste. If I was looking for a transparent moisturizing balm, I’d still prefer to use the Rituals nourishing balm, which I believe is now called the Smooth Operator Caring Lip Balm (although I’m not entirely sure this is the same product, it does seem to have the same ingredients).

If you’re looking for a tad of colour while moisturizing the lips, I think La Vie En Rose in Pale Pink is a good option. It looks rather heavy fresh out of the tube, but it becomes quite sheer when you spread it across the lips, evening out the colour of your own lips and adding a glossy shine on top. For a little more ‘pop’ you can choose to go for the Fresh Coral version. I like Pale Pink because it’s great for every day use and it smells kind of citrusy.
