Rituals Make-up Stash

While I might not have as much make-up as most beauty bloggers, there’s still waaay too much stuff laying around, so I thought it would be nice to give you a peek at my collection and in the meantime do an over-all review. First up is my humble Rituals collection.

StyleLab favorite! Rituals Base Coat, Rebel Rose & Sweet Sapphire (limited edition) nail polish.

I’ll start off with the one Rituals product everyone should have: the  Rituals Base Coat. This is my absolute holy grail product in the nail care segment. The base coat prevents my nails from getting yellow and keeps my nail polishes from chipping way too early. It also strengthens the nails, making it the perfect smooth base to enjoy your nail polish colors for a longer period. It’s quite simple but a definite must-have for any nail polish lover. Knowing that I have two really should say it all..

Then on to the colours.. Rebel Rose is a deep candy pink shade and Sweet Sapphire is a light blue shade enriched with a pearly shine. I had to use 3 coats of Sweet Sapphire, since this was more of a transparent shade. Love the color though. It’s composition kind of reminds me of the Chanel nail polishes. The brush wasn’t my cup of tea though. I had some trouble getting them done nicely which is why I wouldn’t recommend this brand for nail polish noobs.

The Crystal Glow Lipgloss is something I wouldn’t normally buy because of the amount of glitters that’s in it. To my surprise, my lips didn’t turn out to be looking like discoballs at all. Actually, the glitters were quite subtle once applicated, and gave my lips a nice healthy shine. They look glammed up, but not to the extent that they looked over the top. The stickiness wasn’t that bad either.

The Natural bronzing powder in Summer Time has nice packaging and a soft texture. The shade looks really natural (because of the lack of glitters), but was a bit too dark for my skin tone unfortunately.

StyleLab favorite! Cheek and eye glow in Pink (€ 24,90).

Gotta love multifunctional make-up products! You can use the Cheek and Eye Glow in Pink both for your eyes or cheeks. The texture is again really soft, making it feel as if you’re not wearing anything. The only thing I’m missing here is a nice applicator brush. That would’ve made this product complete!

When I saw the Mandarin lipstick I just couldn’t resist to buy it. It’s not very pigmented, but it gives off a nice subtle shimmery red that makes sure the lips get a nice natural red color. The texture is rather dry too, therefore I wouldn’t recommend it if you have very dry lips. What I like to do is put the nourishing lip balm on, pat the excess off using a tissue and then apply the lipstick. A little transparent lipgloss on top in the centre of the lower lip and booyah, perfect healthy looking lips!

The Royal Eye Pencil was a bit of a disappointment for me. I found it really hard to apply it both on my hand for the swatch and on the waterline of my eyes. This probably helps in prolonging the wearability, but if you can’t even get it on properly because your eye is getting irritated, I really don’t see the point. The blender was also something else. It served more as an eraser than a blender really. In my opinion there are much better eye pencils within the same price range on the market.

StyleLab favorite! Nourishing lip balm SPF 10 (€ 5,90)

I’ll be honest with you, I hate lip balms. They’re mostly greasy, have awful taste or come in the most ridiculous unnatural colors. Because of the roaccutane treatment, which dehydrates my body completely, not using any lip balm wasn’t really an option anymore. The lip balm from Rituals hydrates my lips without the stickiness, protects them from the sun and most importantly, makes it possible for me to still wear lipstick! Score!
