“Let’s wear this tule dress today”, she thought. “Let’s take it outside and shoot some pictures”, she thought. Bad idea (f-f-freezing much?), but once I get something in my head, it’s hard to let it go. I found this puffy tule dress while going through my stuff last week and pictured it with the beautiful winter scenery. I bought it last Winter (remember the Alexa Chung collection at Vero Moda) and it was still wearing its tag. I wasn’t ready to classify it under “bad buys” just yet — I mean how could I? Big puffy tulle dresses are fabulous!– so I decided I was going to wear it then and there. Immediately after putting it on I recalled why I loved it so much in the first place. That instant glamour with a touch of romance.. and almost feeling like a princess (hello escapism).
The truth is, I really could’ve used a break from reality at that time. I received some bad news which partly explained my online absence last week. One of my cats was diagnosed with mammary cancer (and it had already spread), which forced me to make one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make: choosing to end her suffering. The diagnosis came to me as a blow to the head; hard and totally unexpected. Kitty had been with us for 13 years and seemed in good shape until recently. Everything went downhill incredibly fast it was very hard to watch. In the end, I knew what had to be done, even though it was way too soon. But then again, when are we ever ‘ready’ to say goodbye? I’m not sure..
The other part of my online absence was due my deadline for Feeling magazine. If you want to know whats hot and happening in Flanders -or specifically in West-Flanders- be sure to pick up the March issue of Feeling when it’s out by then end of February!
