NYX Butter Gloss

I’ve put these cuties in my ‘Monthly Favourites’ posts time and time again, so it’s about time I honor them in a post of their own; meet the NYX Butter Glosses, the only glosses you’ll ever need. That’s a pretty big claim, but since these are the only glosses I’ve ever (nearly) finished in such a short amount of time, it’s safe to say these are my favourite glosses of all time and if you haven’t tried these yet, it’s about time you do!

First of all let me just say I’m not a gloss kind of girl, at least I haven’t been since my teenage years. But would be if all glosses were like the NYX Butter Glosses, with their sweet vanilla scent, a range of cutesy colours without those typical chunky glitters. They’re moisturizing and feel super comfortable on the lips. They have just the right amount of stickiness to them that they hang in there throughout the day without feeling tacky. These are my go-to lip products for when my lips are chipped, but if they’re too trashed, you’re better off with a clear moisturizing lip balm to let them recover for a bit.

I picked up Apple Strudel and Vanilla Cream Pie during my trip to New York (CVS, Ricky’s) and fell in love with them right away. Two months later I picked up Eclair and Maple Blondie during my trip to Barcelona (Primor, Beautik), not knowing of how similar the shades were in comparison to my earlier purchase. Similar, but not quite. 02 Eclair and 09 Vanilla Cream Pie are both more of a purplish pink, where Eclair is more on the Lavender side of the spectrum and Vanilla Cream Pie has more of a nude pink tone. Apple Strudel is a peachy pink colour and Maple Blondie is a deeper peachy pink. Apologies for the swatches, but in real life there is more of a distinction between the colours than what you see on my lips here.

The pigmentation of the glosses is sheer to medium as you can build them up a little bit. The milky shades are a great option for fair skin types, but might not work so well for medium to darker skins. Those with more pigmented lips should go for the darker colours.

The NYX Butter Gloss is a great product for the price you pay. I honestly can’t get enough of these and always have one with me during the spring/summertime. I can’t wait for NYX to hit Belgium so I can get some more fall/winter appropriate colours! Hopefully they won’t mark it up too much like with other US brands though.
