When it comes to cleansing I’m the biggest advocate of ‘me-time‘. It doesn’t matter if you’re taking a 5 minute shower or soak in the tub for an hour; it shouldn’t feel like a chore but something to look forward to. Take that precious time and instead of thinking about all of the things that happened or still need to be done, empty your head and give your body the pampering it deserves. Everything else can wait.
My partner in crime/weapon of choice lately? Nivea Silk Mousse nourishing shower foam, a delicate and fluffy texture which promises a “unique shower sensation”.
Nivea Silk Mousse comes in 3 different varieties that make up the perfect balance between body care and indulgence. Each has its own scent and you can take a whiff by scratching the stickers on the caps. Sensory marketing at play! Each one has Nivea written all over it: basic, subtle and familiar. However, if you love the scent of the traditional Nivea cream, the Silk Mousse Creme Care (dark blue can) is the one to go for. I’m also really digging the elegant and smooth vaulted shape of the cans.
The main ingredient of each of the mousses is Silk Extract, known for its hydrating and smoothing properties. It provides the skin with essential proteins and creates a protective barrier which prevents the skin from dehydration. Moreover, Silk Extract is rich in antioxidants and amino acids, which helps the skin cells to regenerate. It gets absorbed quickly into the skin and gives a silky smooth feeling.

How to use: Give the can a firm shake, keep it straight and squeeze a good amount onto the palm of your hand. Unlike the cans from Rituals, which keep on sprouting product after you’ve used them, the Nivea Silk Mousse doesn’t let you waste any product. You don’t even need as much for your entire body.
Truth to be told, in terms of hydrating the skin, there are better options to choose than foam in a can. I’m usually a lot stricter when it comes to skin care for my face. BUT. The texture coming out of these Nivea Silk Mousse cans is what I’d like to call a cloud of joy. The mousse is super soft and bouncy, making every minute of shower/bath time worthwhile. The foam is firm enough, not to drip off of your body immediately, giving you time to give every cm of skin the attention it needs. Afterwards, my skin feels soft and the scent doesn’t linger. I don’t mind at all, since I use a moisturizer and perfume (during daytime) afterwards anyways.
Overall, I enjoyed my shower sensation very much and I’d love to see this texture released in more fragrances. Cherry blossom maybe? I’d die for a pastel pink foam! Out of these 3, I think that both ingredients wise and scent wise, the Nivea Silk Mousse in Creme Care is the best bang for your buck.
