If there’s one makeup product I cannot live without, it’s probably concealer. Even though they are rare, there are days my skin doesn’t need foundation and a little bit of concealer under my eyes and on tiny spots does the job of making my face look flawless. So why pack it all on when you don’t have to? Less is more. Today I’d like to present you with my favourite concealers out of my entire stash.
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (9 ml) $ 20 / £ 17 / € 18 is a long time favourite and also the one with the heaviest coverage out of the bunch. Not a big fan of the scent, but the coverage and creamy texture make up for it. It’s a dream for using on blemishes and other skin troubles.
Another one that has been in my stash for years is the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit (1,4 g / 1,7 g) $ 35 / £ 24.50 / € 33 in Pale Yellow & Ivory. Because this is a compact concealer, the formula is a little drier than a liquid, making it set a lot faster. The biggest plus of this kit is that you also get a powder so you can immediately lock the concealer in to prevent it from creasing. I’ll use this under my eyes as well as on spots.
Another dry compact formula I discovered last year is the Bourjois Happy Light Ultra-Covering Concealer* (2,5 g) £ 9 / € 9 in 21 Ivory. It’s the warmest out of them all, but still pretty wearable for fair skin types. It’s very creamy and easy to blend into the skin. The compact closes magnetically (love this) and just really handy to pop into your purse.
The Maybelline Fit Me Concealer $ 5 / £ 6 / € 9 is often called in the same breath as the infamous NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, and although I haven’t tried that one, I can tell this is a pretty darn good concealer. It’s very creamy and covers and blends really well. It’s pretty much the only thing I’ve been using the last couple of months to cover up my blemishes. This made me curious about the rest of the Fit Me range.
Speaking of Maybelline, they’re really knocking it out of the park when it comes to concealers. My latest concealer discovery is one I’d recommend to anyone with dark circles that could use some brightening. The Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles $ 10 / £ 8 / € 11 feels like an absolute dream when applied under my eyes. The shade has a pink undertone which makes the complexion look brighter and more luminous. You can also use this as a subtle highlight. The sponge tip feels super soft and gentle, yet it’s a bit unhygienic at the same time. It never looks too heavy and even though € 11 is a lot for a drugstore concealer, this one is definitely worth picking up.
Collection Lasting Perfection concealer £ 4 is perhaps the one where you’ll get the most bang out of your buck as it’s so incredibly affordable. It’s comparable to the Maybelline Fit Me concealer, yet they go even lighter in colour which pale girls will love. You can use it either under the eyes or on spots. I wouldn’t say this lasts 16 hours, but it’ll last me throughout the day which is fair enough. Unfortunately you can only get this in the UK, so stock up on your next trip to London.
