The name Jean-Charles de Castelbajac might not mean anything to you, but I do hope Lady Gaga’s Kermit dress rings a bell. JC/DC is what I like to call a ‘designer that puts the fun back in fashion’. A category that’s also the home of his American counterpart, Jeremy Scott. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac has always hijacked fashion, producing a line inspired with pop culture, art and music. Disney characters have had multiple appearances in his designs for instance. It’s no wonder the kid in me got excited when I noticed this colorful table of accessories during the Antwerp press days.
I wasn’t allowed to give out the info back then because of an embargo, but now I’m glad to announce Kipling has asked Jean-Charles de Castelbajac to design a collection for them. And what a wonderful collection it has become! It embodies everything that JCDC stands for, plus, it’s affordable! With 4 lines to choose from – Game Ever, Psycho-Daisy, NylonClub and Candy-Say – these diverse styles all come together with a little sprinkling of JC/DC magic.
-
Game Ever: black accessories stamped with primary blocks of color. JCDC’s dynamism are mixed with Kipling’s signature of multi-functional pockets. The Space Monkey is JC’s answer to the regular Kipling monkey.
-
Psycho-Daisy: neo skeletons representing the Japanese symbol of the Three Wise Monkeys (Don’t See, Don’t Speak, Don’t Listen).
-
NylonClub: an ode to the bourgeousie inspired by the colors of English hunting gear.
-
Candy-Say: mini shoulder bags in 3 popping prints, from rainbows to just.. bows. Again, gotta love the space monkey.
Prices vary from €14,90 to € 169,90.
The JCDC collection is now available in selected Kipling stores, in JC/DC points of sale and on..
