Kenzoki Belle De Jour Sacred Lotus

For centuries the lotus flower has been the symbol of eternal beauty thanks to its ability to restore itself in the most extreme circumstances. Today, Kenzo offers a range of 7 anti-aging products to honor the divine power of the lotus; the Kenzoki Belle De Jour Sacred Lotus collection. Together with brown algae extract and plankton, the lotus extract is said to help fade the signs of ageing (wrinkles, loss of firmness and less radiant complexion).

The face cream is quite rich in texture, which doesn’t really match with my combination skin and skin care preferences. I prefer to layer my skin care with lightweight products instead. However, the rich texture does help with making fine lines and deeper wrinkles look filled in.

The face lotion is described as a ‘slightly textured water’ and looks like a clear watery gel. It’s incredibly lightweight yet feels quite hydrating for my combination skin, despite alcohol being pretty high up the ingredients list. In winter I use this underneath a moisturizing cream, but I can see myself wearing this on its own during Summer when my skin is oilier. I tend to apply 2-3 pumps and pat it into my skin and neck to make it look more plump, smooth and radiant.

The Eye Contour comes in elegant and slim packaging with pump. If you have puffy eyes, you will definitely love the cooling metal applicator that dispenses the product. I know I certainly do. The formula of the cream itself was a bit difficult to work with though. It is a little too thick for me and that sometimes caused problems with the concealers I wanted to use on top.

Another problem for me personally was the heavy scent of the range. The fragrance itself I love, but it’s just too overpowering, especially when used directly under the eye. If you’re using fragranced skin care on a daily basis, you probably won’t notice this but I’ve quietly started to back away from fragranced skin care and this one comes on really strong. Even compared to the Givenchy L’Intemporel range I previously reviewed.

Overall I don’t think this is the range for me at this stage, but I would be interested if it had less fragrance and a gel-type moisturizer specifically catered to combination skin.
