I’m continuing my quest for good & affordable basics where I left of during the sales. After all the search for the perfect French wardrobe is never-ending and I could use an update in my spring/summer section.
Do you know who else is good at affordable basics? Sweden. When I discovered that a Filippa K store had opened its doors in Kortrijk (which is super close for once) I knew I had to go check it out. Once I received the gorgeous SS13 lookbook in my mailbox I knew I’d rather do it sooner than later. The collection is constructed with one must-have outfit on top of another and I’m dying add some of the pieces to my collection.
For Spring Summer 2013, Filippa K is playing with contrast of the sophisticated feminine and sharp masculine using silhouettes in sheer, light and sensual fabrics combined with tailored sportiness. Like we’re used to from the Swedish brand, a lot of attention is paid to detail and materials. The color palette consists of light lilac, army green, inky blue, ivory white and soft dusty pastel mixed with grey. Don’t even get me started on that gorgeous floral print. Coming from a non-print person, that actually says it all.
The original plan was to make a wish list which I was eventually going to use as a shopping list later on. Things kind of turned out differently as there were so many items that caught my eye, that it was turning into a full Filippa K catalogue. The heart wants what the heart wants and Filippa K wasn’t exactly making it easy on me. The pieces are extremely versatile and can be worn in many ways. If you’re having a hard time on thinking how to wear your basics, I’d suggest you go and have a look at their lookbook. There’s tons of inspiration there!
In the end I opted for a couple of my favorite looks and to create my very own Filippa K look using some of my fav pieces, which was also one of the tasks of The Big You 3 event (I’ll tell you all about it later on this week). I deliberately opted for a colorful palette with nudes, pastels and black accessories. Spring needs some color and I do too. Well, that and funds. Anybody want to donate?
