Catrice Metallure Limited Edition Collection

The limited edition collections from Essence and Catrice this year were kind of boring. And suddenly there it was, oh sweet baby jesus.. *angels chanting* the Metallure collection from Catrice. It looked absolutely stunning with its gorgeous marble packaging and colours which kind of reminded me of MAC. Initially I was only planning on picking up the eye shadows, but when I started swatting everything the bronzer just had to come too.

The collection is described as follows:
Highlights. Unique metallic dreams, straight cuts and light, flowing dresses with silvery shadows – precious metals are conquering the late summer months and are being combined with the trend revival of the marble look. Fashion and accessories appear to be covered in a high shine and are being established as glamorous must-haves with a fashionable liquid look. Not futuristic, but fresh, natural and flowing. Inspired by renowned designers, the Limited Edition “Metallure” by CATRICE is offering the matching beauty products to go with the metallic trend in August and September 2014. In addition to the classic colours of precious metals like gold, silver and copper, this collection also includes fresh pink, classical red and soft white.

Let’s take a look at the Metallic Marbled Eye Shadows first. The collection has 3 in total, with each its own marble effect. I wish Catrice would’ve done something special with the packaging as well. The regular plastic see-through pot just seems a bit too plain, especially when you know these duo’s are more expensive than the permanent Absolute Eye Colour eyeshadows (€ 2,79). You can use the colours of each duo separately or mix them together to create the effect desired. Using them separately may give you some trouble in the long run as the pattern begins to fade after a couple of uses. Even after trying them a couple of times I’m still not convinced wether these have an overspray or not. Sometimes all I get is 1 colour and sometimes suddenly the other colour starts to pop up again. I’m sure hoping they’re not oversprays because the duo effect is what drew me to them in the first place.

The eye shadows have a decent pigmentation and are very – and I repeat – VERY SHINY. You can either wear them on their own to create a glamorous nude / wet look during the day (looks pretty with eyeliner) or use them as a shiny top coat on top of a matte smokey eye during the evening. Do use a good primer to prevent the fallout from turing your entire face into a disco ball – unless that’s what you’re going for. Hey, no judging! I might do a little experiment with them and see if they look any good when worn wet. For now I’ve mostly worn them with a matte nude shade underneath to make them stand out more.

Then on to the Catrice Metallure Luminizing Bronzer in C01 Shimmer Shade, a baked bronzing powder with a coppery rosé gold marbling that is said to give the face and neckline a natural-looking tan and a subtle glow. Again, the packaging isn’t anything special, just a see-through round pot with the product bulking out a bit. Still pretty though. I’m soooo glad I picked this up! The claims are all true. Although the picture where I’m wearing it below might not give it away, the bronzer manages to give my skin a subtle glow and adds a little warmth without looking orange on me. In other words, it’s a great product for pale skin types too! Just make sure you apply it with a fluffy brush (not dense) and with a loose hand because it’s very pigmented. With just a little dab of this on my temples and along my cheekbones, my complexion is changed into a more healthy looking skin. Just what I was looking for this summer. If you’re more tan you can always build it up to make it more intense. Due to the shimmer I wouldn’t recommend this for full-on contouring or the entire face though. It looks quite subtle on the cheekbones but the direct sunlight would give it all away if you were to apply it all over.

I’m wearing nothing but a little bit foundation, some under eye concealer and the bronzer. The effect is natural looking skin with more dimension and a healthy looking skin tone. I didn’t even need to use blusher.

Even though the bronzer is the most expensive out of the bunch (why is Catrice pushing its prices up anyway, it’s ridic), it’s the one product I’d recommend for everyone – pale to medium skin. This is going int the favourites tray for sure!

// De limited edition collecties van Essence en Catrice dit jaar konden me maar matig boeien. En toen was hij daar plots, de prachtige Metallure collectie van Catrice. Het kon er wel eentje van MAC zijn, met zijn mooie marmeren kleurschakeringen op zowel de producten als de verpakking.. helemaal mijn ding! Ik was eerst van plan om enkel de oogschaduws mee te nemen, maar na het swatchen ging ik ook meteen overstag voor de prachtige bronzer. 

De Metallure heeft 3 Metallic Marbled Eye Shadows. De verpakking ziet er naar mijn mening maar gewoontjes uit. Daar mocht best wel iets meer mee gebeuren. Zeker als je weet dat de permanente Absolute Eye Colour oogschaduws met dezelfde verpakking goedkoper zijn (€ 2,79). Je kunt de kleuren van elk duo afzonderlijk gebruiken of ze mixen om het gewenste effect te creëren (zie swatches). Ze apart gebruiken kan na verloop van tijd wel wat moeilijker worden want het patroon begint wat te vervagen. Zelfs na een paar keer gebruiken ben ik er nog steeds niet uit of ze nu een overspray hebben of niet. Soms krijg ik maar 1 kleur te zien en plots komt de 2de kleur dan toch weer tevoorschijn piepen. Ik hoop in ieder geval van niet want het duo effect is net hetgeen wat mij het meest aansprak aan deze oogschaduws. Ze hebben iig een degelijke pigmentatie en zijn heel – ik herhaal, héél glanzend. Je kunt ze oftewel alleen dragen om een glamoureuze nude / wet look te creëren voor overdag (ziet er top uit met eyeliner), of ze als een soort van glanzende top coat gebruiken op een matte smokey eye voor ‘s avonds. Gebruik wel steeds een goede primer om alles mooi op zijn plek te houden.

Dan over naar de Catrice Metallure Luminizing Bronzer in C01 Shimmer Shade, een gebakken bronspoeder met een koperen rosé goud marble effect waardoor hij hij het gezicht en hals een natuurlijke bruine kleur en een subtiele gloed zou geven. Opnieuw is de verpakking weinig speciaal, enkel een transparante ronde pot met het product dat wat bol staat. Wel mooi. Ik ben ontzettend blij dat ik deze mee naar huis heb genomen. Alles wat wordt beweerd is waar. Al laat mijn foto het niet echt zien, de bronzer slaagt erin mijn lichte huid een subtiele gloed te geven en wat warmer te maken zonder er oranje uit te zien. Maw, een product waar ook mensen met lichte huidjes plezier aan zullen hebben. Zorg er alleen voor dat je het met een fluffy borstel aanbrengt (waarvan de haartjes wat verspreid staan) en dat je daarbij een lichte hand gebruikt want de bronzer is heel gepigmenteerd. Met een licht veegje van Shimmer Shade op mijn slapen en langs mijn jukbeenderen zie ik er heel wat stralender uit. Net wat ik nodig had deze zomer. Het blijft wel een Luminizing bronzer natuurlijk, wat betekent shimmer en dus niet gemaakt om full-out te gaan contouren of over je hele gezicht aan te brengen. De bronzer is spijtig genoeg het duurste product (de Catrice prijzen rijzen echt de pan uit de laatste tijd) maar ook net hetgeen wat ik het meest zou aanraden, voor zowel bleke huidjes als voor iemand die al wat getint is. Deze gaat alvast in de favorieten-schuif!
