Bourjois Shine Edition Lipsticks

During Summer I often find myself more attracted to lighter and shinier formulas like coloured balms and lip glosses. They’re a really nice way to add some subtle colour to the lips without that boldness of an opaque lipstick. A while ago I started my quest for a dupe of the Dior Addict lipstick in Incognito – a nude that seemed pretty boring at first, yet it turned out to be the colour I wore the most. During a trip to the drugstore my eye fell on the Bourjois Shine Edition lipstick in 26 Beige Démocrachic, a pretty pink nude. At home it turned out to be a tad different than Incognito, a bit more pink and shinier too, but it was enough to spark an interest in the other colours that the Bourjois Shine Edition range had to offer. After spotting a good deal at both Di and Kruidvat (local drugstores) my collection quickly expanded to the 4 shades I’ll introduce you to in today’s post:

The Bourjois Shine Edition range originally came out last year in 8 shades. This year they added 2 more lipsticks to the range, one of them is 38 Sunset Peach, a beautiful orange coral shade. I also picked up 2 pink variations and a nude. The texture of these lipsticks is very similar to that of a balm. It’s very smooth and has a good scent to it too. Though it’s more pigmented than your average coloured balm, it doesn’t quite give you the full coverage of a lipstick, so applying it evenly takes some effort. I also noticed a moisturizing effect, yet the pigment has the tendency to cling to dry patches a bit. That is why I prefer to wear these when my lips are in good condition.

As far as the shiny effect goes, I think it’s quite allright. Not too much disco ball although I wish the glitters in some of them were a bit smaller. The lipsticks will last a couple of hours on me, but they won’t survive a meal, which seems pretty normal considering their creamy texture.

The Bourjois Shine Edition lipsticks are a good alternative for lipstick girls who are looking for a more sheer coverage during summer. If you’re good at keeping your lips in tip-top shape, these ‘ll look absolutely flawless on you. My faves out of these 4 are definitely 26 Beige Démocrachic – a nude for everyday wear (one I tend to sport at the office) and 38 Sunset peach, which is more fun for days off and on the weekends.

// Een tijdje geleden startte ik mijn zoektocht naar een dupe voor mijn geliefde Dior Addict Incognito lipstick. Na wat rondneuzen bij de drogist stuitte ik op de Bourjois Shine Edition lipstick in 26 Beige Démocrachic. Deze bleek uiteindelijk wat rozer (en stiekem nog mooier) en gaf ook wel wat meer glans dan het origineel en het duurde dan ook niet lang of ik had nog wat kleurtjes aangeschaft die ik hier vandaag aan jullie wil voorstellen. De Rouge Shine Edition lijn bestaat uit 8 kleuren en er werden dit jaar 2 nieuwe geïntroduceerd. Ik kocht er in totaal 4, 2 roze varianten, een nude en een vrolijk koraalkleurtje Sunset Peach (nieuw deze zomer).

De textuur heeft veel mee van een gekleurde lippenbalsem, alleen bevat deze toch wel meer pigment. Tegelijkertijd geeft hij niet altijd evenveel kleur af, waardoor het de applicatie soms wat bemoeilijkt. Ik vind de lipsticks ook redelijk hydraterend, al hebben ze wel de neiging om zich vast te grijpen aan droge plekjes, waardoor er variaties in kleurintensiteit te zien zijn. Daarom draag ik deze dan ook het liefst wanneer mijn lippen al in goede conditie zijn. Wat de glans betreft, zit het wel goed: niet teveel discobal, al had ik de glitters bij 27 Oh My Doll graag wat kleiner gezien. Gezien de crèmige textuur is het redelijk normaal dat deze geen maaltijd overleven, al blijven ze toch wel enkele uurtjes mooi zitten.

De Bourjois Shine Edition lipsticks zijn een goed alternatief voor lipstickmeisjes die op zoek zijn naar een meer transparante dekking tijdens de zomer. Als je iemand bent die erin slaagt je lippen in goede conditie te houden, dan zullen deze je perfect staan. Mijn favorieten van de 4 zijn ongetwijfeld 26 Beige Démocrachic – een nude voor elke dag (ik draag die graag op het werk) en 38 Sunset Peach, een leuk fel kleurtje voor in het weekend.
