Beauty | Yves Rocher Grand Rouge + Nail Lacquer

I’ve featured a lot of brands on this blog since I started out 3 years ago and for some reason, Yves Rocher hasn’t had the honors to be one of them..until now. I’ll be honest with you; I don’t shop there and I haven’t done it for years. Bad experiences with products will do that to you I guess. But hey that was years ago, the beauty is changing at pace that’s hard to keep up with and I’m a pretty forgiving person so why not give it another go?

Earlier this year Yves Rocher launched a gorgeous new range of 18 lipsticks within their Couleurs Nature collection; ‘Grand Rouge‘. I got to try 2 fabulous coulours, Corail Voilé and Rose Eclatant, which are packaged in an elegant and refined pink-gold case. Susceptible for finger prints yes, but too pretty to shove away in your drawers.

Corail Voilé is a more natural looking shade which makes a great everyday look while my personal favorite for the SS13 season is Rose Eclatant, a bright pink that makes up the perfect pop of instant summer with a healthy looking shine for a finish.

Ingredients include organic sesame oil, soy extract, vitamin E and camellia oil, a rare oil from eastern Asia that has a veritable therapeutic effect. All together they create a lipstick formula that smooths the lips and regenerates them. The texture is creamy but not too buttery and slides easily onto the lips, giving off intense colour. It’s still a lipstick, but one with good hydrating qualities which can last up to 6 hours. I usually re-apply after 4 hours.

For application I used the help of Yves Rocher’s Flawless Lip Liner which looks like its pastel pink in the packaging, but becomes invisible once applied. I like 01 Incolore the best, since you can use it under any shade of lipstick without having to buy additional lip liners for each lipstick you purchase. I usually follow the lip contours and then ‘colour’ them before applying lipstick. The product glides on smoothly, but I wouldn’t use it on the entire surface if your lips are a bit dry. That might make it worse (swatch pic 1 wearing °12 vs swatch pic 2 wearing °42). Made me realize I really need to drink more water.

Yves Rocher also added 4 new nail polish shades to their Nail Lacquer collection and I got to test two of them. Now these shades aren’t exactly my cup of tea but the quality is pretty good. Unlike most polishes out there nowadays, the bottle’s design is long and slim which makes it easier to hold plus it takes up less space to store.

The brush has the classic size and even though I prefer a wide brush it doesn’t really bother all that much because the quality of the nail polish itself just does all of the work. The texture is just right to do an easy application; not too thick and not too watery. The shades are really pigmented  which gives you perfect coverage in just one coat. ONE COAT! It felt like a dream. The finish is super glossy and it stays that way even without a top coat. The wear durability is about 3-4 days (without top coat).

In my opinion these products turned out alright. The lipsticks are making my beauty-loving heart beat just a little faster with their hydration formula and intense colour. I’m happy I was able to rediscover the brand in such a positive way and next time I’ll be hitting the town I won’t skip the Yves Rocher boutique to check out some more lip colours. Promise.

Yves Rocher is één van de beautymerken die nog niet eerder op de blog is kunnen verschijnen. Hoog tijd dus om daar wat aan te doen. Door wat slechte ervaringen ben ik er jammergenoeg al enkele jaren niet meer langsgeweest, maar deze producten zouden daar wel eens verandering in kunnen brengen!

Yves Rocher lanceerde een tijdje geleden een nieuwe collectie van 18 prachtige lipsticks, de ‘Grand Rouge‘, waarvan ik er 2 mocht testen: Corail Voilé en Rose Eclatant. Ik kan je zeggen; deze zijn mij zeer goed bevallen. Naast de mooie roos-gouden behuizing zijn ze heel goed gepigmenteerd en laten een mooie glans na. Niks te opvallend, maar ook niet semi-mat. Dé reden waarvoor ik ze echter zou aanschaffen is hun geweldig crèmige textuur die heel licht aanvoelt, niet plakt en vooral goed hydrateert dankzij de camelia olie. Ze kunnen tot 6 uur blijven zitten, maar na 4 uurtjes breng ik meestal al een nieuw laagje aan.

Corail Voilé is een subtiele koraalrode kleur die iets oranje/roosachtig oogt en die je dus doordeweeks kunt gaan dragen. Mijn persoonlijke favoriet is echter de Rose Eclatant, een felroze kleur die mij meteen naar de zomerse zonnestralen en parelwitte stranden doen snakken.

Ik bracht beiden aan met behulp van de Flawless Lip Liner in 01 Incolore, een kleurloos lippotlood waarmee ik eerst mijn lipcontouren volg om daarna de lippen ‘in te kleuren’ zodat de kleur van de lipstick langer houdt. Het inkleuren zou ik echter achterwege laten als je lippen heel droog zijn (zoals je kunt zien in foto 1 vs foto 2). Bij het zien van foto 1 die eerder werd gemaakt kreeg ik meteen de reality check voor mij neus dat ik écht wel meer water moet gaan drinken.

Het voordeel van een kleurloze lipliner is natuurlijk dat je deze bij al je lipsticks kunt gaan gebruiken, dan hoef je niet per lipstick nog eens een matching lipliner te kopen. Maar als je sowieso al geen last hebt van lipsticks die in de lijntjes kruipen (gebeurt vaker naarmate je ouder wordt), dan heb je dit eigenlijk ook niet echt nodig.

Dan zijn er ook nog de Nail Lacquers die er 4 nieuwe kleurtjes bij kregen. Ik testte Rose Somptueux en Mauve Poudré. Niet meteen kleurtjes waar ik zelf voor zou kiezen maar met de kwaliteit van de lakjes zit het alvast goed. Ze dekken perfect in slechts -ik viel bijna van mijn stoel- 1 laagje. 1 LAAGJE! Zo ben ik ze maar zelden tegengekomen. De textuur is niet waterachtig maar ook niet te dik, waardoor je de nagellak makkelijk kunt uitstrijken. Daarom vind ik het hier ook niet echt een probleem dat ze nog werken met het klassieke borsteltje ipv de brede borstels zoals bij Essie en Dior. Qua houdbaarheid kun je verwachten dat ze ongeveer 3 à 4 dagen kunt dragen vooraleer je de eerste chips te zien krijgt. Wil je ze langer dragen, gebruik dan een top coat. Voor de glans moet je het alvast niet doen, want deze taak nemen de lakjes maar al te graag op zich.

Al bij al kan ik dus wel stellen dat Yves Rocher best wel goed werk heeft geleverd met deze producten. Vooral de lipsticks doen mijn beauty-minnend hartje wat sneller slaan dankzij de hydraterende formule en intense kleur. Ik ben blij om het merk op een dergelijke positieve manier te kunnen herontdekken en zal de volgende keer ik in ‘t stad vertoef de boetiek niet overslaan. Beloofd.
