Last week I headed over to Ici Paris XL HQ in Vilvoorde to discover the latest releases of their exclusive brands. Among them was Givenchy, one of my favorite luxury cosmetics brands. Why-oh-why isn’t this brand available in my local Ici Paris XL store anymore? Now I have to go out of my way to get me some Givenchy! I’m super bummed about this, especially because their new range looks great! Let’s have a look..
Acoustic Colors
The autumn/winter collection goes by the name of Acoustic Colors. It’s a light show of electro and rock colors, vibration and energy, in dark shades with metallic finish and shimmering particles. The look features dark, metallic eyes, while the cheekbones are enhanced, and the lips are pink and naked.
Nicolas Degennes, Givenchy Makeup Artistic Director, describes the Acoustic Colors Collection as an rock ‘n’ roll energy: “For Autumn-Winter 2012, Acoustic Colors offers a score of magnetic and undulating colours on a harmonious stave of references. It is a show in which colours, lights and vibrations perform with an electric, rock ‘n’ roll energy. This score was partly inspired by Liv Tyler, my accomplice, who grew up in a world of sound and image. I asked her to colour her inner music that day. Pink. Natural. Two shades of LIVely Pink for the lips.”
Prisme Yeux Acoustic Quator: Acoustic Harmony n°80 €52,07
This gorgeous eyepalette features four shades with metallic glitter in Golden Light, Iced Chestnut, Black and Opalescent Plum. The shades are really sheer, but according to the Givenchy PR, it’s really easy to build up the color. Or you can also use a colored base underneath. One thing’s for sure though; there’s A LOT of glitter involved! I’m not quite sure why they released this as a Fall palette, instead of a Holiday one, because this makes the perfect palette for the Holiday season. Gets your party going! The palette also comes with 3 applicators.
Le Prisme Visage: Acoustic Pastel n°88 €44,79
Nicolas chose to go for a transparent complexion with le prisme visage. When I swatched this, it looked incredibly light, so my guess is this will look best on pale skin. You can use it to set your foundation or on top of a BB cream to give your skin a natural glow.
Noir Couture Mascara: n°1 Black Satin and n°2 Brown Satin €31,50
A four-in-one mascara that creates intense volume, strong curl, infinite length, and complete lash care. This multitasking mascara is formulated with Givenchy’s exclusive Lash Booster Expert Complex that provides nutrition, revitalization, fortification, and protection. The brush looks very interesting, you’ll hear more about this as soon as I’ve tested it.
Rouge Interdit Shine: Acoustic Wild Rose n°18 €29,21
and Gelée Interdit Shine: Acoustic Wild Rose n°29 €27,06
Both the lipstick and gloss are really transparent and contain pink and golden pearlescent particles.
Vernis Please: Acoustic Purple n°180 € 17,73
Probably my favorite item of the collection is this vibrant purple polish with blue shine. Gorge.
Rouge Interdit: Révélateur de Liv Lively Pink n°57 € 29,21
and Gloss Interdit: Révélateur de Liv Lively Pink n°37 € 27,06
Another product that caught my eye is the limited edition Révélateur de Liv. Both the lipstick and gloss are universal and will look different on everyone, because it adapts to the warmth and ph level of your skin, making it look fresh & natural. Personally, I’d rather go with these than with Acoustic Wild Rose. I think the pink neutral shade matches well with the Acoustic Harmony palette (as seen on Liv Tyler).
Smile ‘n Repair
Smile ‘n Repair is Givenchy’s new anti-ageing range, consisting of a serum, cream and eye contour cream. For the first time a skincare line will activate the production of the skin structure proteine HSP27 during facial movements. So basically, Givenchy is encouraging women to express freely, without worrying about getting wrinkles. I’m actually really curious as to how this would work. I’ll let my mum be the guinea pig for the serum, and I’ll let you know the result asap.
serum 30 ml € 93,79; cream spf 15 50 ml € 93,79; eye contour 15 ml € 60,47
Givenchy Play fragrance
What happens when street art and fragrance collide? Givenchy Play Arty Edition! The cool white, minimalist bottle of Play for Her gets a makeover at the hands of French artist, André in the form of colorful stickers that can be used to customize the bottle and outer box of the fragrance. Stickers depict André’s passion for travel via a plane journey from Paris to New York and from the Eiffel Tower to New York’s 5th Avenue skyscrapers. The pure white bottle makes the perfect canvas for expressing your artistic side. The playful possibilities are endless! I’m a big fan of the Play for Her fragrance and I simply love this relaunch edition!
Givenchy Play EDP Arty Color Edition 50 ml € 73,49
