Last month the fashionable Nationalestraat in Antwerp welcomed a unique concept for the Belgian market. Jili is a new tea and coffee bar that offers a very special drink; bubble tea. Doesn’t ring a bell? Bubble tea or pearl tea is a combination of traditional green or black tea, concentrated juices and flavor beads (aka the bubbles) that burst open in your mouth. Customers can choose which flavors they want, and whether they like their tea hot or cold.
Besides bubble tea Jili also serves the best Italian coffee, easily digestible healthy sandwiches with an oriental touch, delicious macaroons from Del Rey and homemade ice cream with surprising Asian flavors.
I’ve tried some of their products during the Antwerp press days and I’m completely hooked. Jili stands for happiness and prosperity, which is exactly what I’m feeling when having a taste of their delish drinks and bites! Tip: try out the duck sandwich with hoi sin, chili pepper and cucumber *drools* In short, it’s the perfect place for a relaxed lunch, indulge in some asian-topped cuisine or just have a nice chat with friends in a beautiful cosmopolitan framework.
