Review: Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector

The BB cream is probably one of the biggest beautyblogger hypes of the year. And now that Garnier has released a budgetproof BB cream of their own, you’ll soon probably be able to find one in every household.

BB-what? The abbreviation ‘BB’ stands for ‘Blemish Balm‘, a product that originally was used by dermatologists in Germany to calm the skin after peelings. However, its popularity really started to lift off when some Korean actresses unveiled it as their newest beauty secret. The BB cream thanks this popularity to its multifunctional formula, which includes nurturing & protecting the skin, and soothing the complexion instantly for a long period of time. Because the Asian formula was rather white, it had to be adjusted to Western standards. Et voilà, the first Western BB cream was born: the Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector Daily All-in-1 BB cream!

The Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector Daily All-In-1 BB cream promises to:

  • 24h hydration
  • evens out skin tone
  • corrects skin imperfections and fine lines
  • makes the skin radiate
  • UV protection SPF 15

I’ve been wanting to try a BB cream for a while now, so I was very happy when I received this one from Garnier at my doorstep. The packaging is typical Garnier; simple looking (but not cheap) and practical. It comes in a box which gives some more info on the effects and ingredients of the product. Since my skin tone is rather pale, I’m happy to have received the light version.

As I open the tube I notice a fresh, pleasant fragrance. Quite an important factor, considering that I’m going to put this on my face on a daily basis.

The cream texture is quite thick (kind of like a foundation) at first, but as soon as I rub it in, it transforms into a much thinner cream. This makes it blend in really well, but it also makes it loose its coverage. While the subtle red areas disappear, it doesn’t do so well for the more intense red areas such as blemishes. The same goes for dark circles.

What I really do like, is the luminosity it creates, thanks to the light reflectors it contains. The cream also hydrates well. Maybe a little too well for the greasy skin type. My T-zone is shinier than it should be, so I have to dab it with a tissue and add some translucent powder. For the dry areas it actually works really well.

Summary:

I’ve been using this product practically everyday now and I think its okay. But I don’t consider it to be a real BB cream. There are still some flaws in the formula (such as good coverage), so I’d rename it into a tinted moisturizer instead. Nevertheless, it does a great job at giving my face a healthy, radiant glow which looks really natural. Afterwards I just do some touch-ups using concealer or foundation for the blemishes the cream wasn’t able to disguise.

Pros (+): luminosity, equal complexion, nice fragrance, price, availability
Cons (-): shine on t-zone, bad coverage

The Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector is available for 9,99 euro at your local drugstore.

This product was given to me to try out upon consideration.

    Leuke review!!!
Deze wil ik ook wel eens graag testen. Ik heb er al veel reviews over gelezen en hij lijkt me goed. Soms wil ik iets anders gebruiken dan een gewone foundation. Deze BB crème lijkt me echt wel fijn.
