Flawless makeup starts with a good base. Unfortunately finding a good base for you isn’t always that easy, despite the number of rave reviews a product may have. Ever since I finished the moisturizer I brought back from my Japan trip last year (review coming up soon), I’ve been stuck on a rollercoaster of trying moisturizers that turned out incompatible with my skin. I’ve experienced it all: from dryness and burning sensations to severe acne. I don’t think I have to tell you my makeup game wasn’t very on point as a result.
The one that got my skin back on track is the Ginzing line from Origins. Yes line, because I couldn’t just try the moisturizer when so many UK bloggers are raving about the eye cream too. So let’s see what the fuss is actually about!
Origins Refreshing Eye Cream To Brighten and Depuff
This morning-after eye cream with coffee beans, panax ginseng, magnolia extract, and natural optic brighteners rapidly wakes up tired eyes. It helps reduce dark circles and unsightly bags, refreshing to restore a radiant look. Or so the product claims. I don’t have particularly puffy eyes, but I do need some brightening from time to time. And let that just be the thing this eye cream does well. It has a slightly salmony pink colour and shimmer that both colour corrects and optically brightens up the eye area. I can definitely see why so many bloggers love it.
The texture is quite creamy and thicker than the moisturizer, which may sometimes result in blotchy application of concealers that dry and set quickly. Just make sure to blend it out straight away to avoid this issue. The coffee beans in there are said to fight ageing over time because of their antioxidant benefits, but since I’ve only started to use this for about a month I can’t really elaborate or confirm on that aspect.
Side note: I don’t think everyone absolutely needs to use an eye cream. You can just use your moisturizer around your eyes as well. I do however recommend it if you start to get lines around the eyes (because of tiredness or ageing), your undereye area tends to be a little dry and/or your undereye area needs some extra pampering. Especially when you’re a makeup wearer, you’ll find that everything will blend in more smoothly.

Origins GinZing Energy-boosting moisturizer
The first thing you really notice when you open up the Origins GinZing moisturizer is its amazing citrus scent. Fragrances like these I honestly can’t get enough of. That, and the lightweight gel-like texture kind of reminds me of my very first gel moisturizers from Biotherm waaaay back in the day. (Okay now I feel old.) This type of texture is perfect for combination to oily skin types, especially as its getting hotter as we move towards the summer season. Once applied it quickly sinks into the skin, leaving a semi-matte, glowy and moisturized complexion.
My face really feels revitalized after application, which makes this more of a morning product rather than a moisturizer I’d use morning and night. If you have some dry patches, I would advise to use a moisturizing serum beforehand. Additionally you can also bring along a hydrating mist you can spritz on during the day when you feel your skin needs it. I absolutely love gel cream type of formulas and this is one to repurchase for sure.

You get the gist, I’ve got nothing but praise for these babies. It’s easy to see why they are among one of the brand’s top sellers. They’re pretty affordable, smell good and give the results I was looking for. If you’re new to Origins or to skin care in general, the GinZing line is the perfect line to get you started. I have some more products of this line coming up soon, so stay tuned!
