Monthly Faves: October 2014

stylelab beauty blog monthly faves october 2014

Can you believe October is already over? Sheesh.. time flies. This month’s faves post is a modest one. I discovered some new products in September – October and I’ve created a look around them and pretty much stuck to it the entire month. I also have my Fall Edit coming up, in which I’ll show you some more of my Autumn favourites. So here’s what I’ve been using and loving a lot during the month of October:

Lots of new makeup stuff have entered my stash in the Fall. One of them being the gorgeous Cuir Cannage eyeshadow palette from Dior. I had a tough time choosing between the 3 Dior palettes, but this dark neutral one is just perfect for Fall. The pigmentation is great and the colours have sort of a mysterious sexy vibe to them. Quite similar, yet totally different is the Poésie eyeshadow quad from Chanel. This one’s more purple/plum toned, yet very wearable for every day (both day and night time) wear. It’s the first item from Chanel I’ve bought in a long time and I didn’t regret it one bit. Love the texture of the new eyeshadow quads. They’re more creamy and have less fall-out than the previous ones.

For the lips there’s only one true colour that screams Fall and it’s a burgundy plum. I’ve been a fan of the Givenchy Le Rouge lipsticks ever since they first came out and Pourpre Inoui* is just everything I could’ve wished for. It’s gorgeous,  not drying and makes my teeth look whiter. If you want to pick it up, better hurry because this is a limited edition lipstick (Givenchy Autumn Extravagancia collection available at Ici Paris XL). Almost the same colour and a little glossier is the Bourjois Color Boost lip crayon in Plum Russian. I love to keep this one in my bag and I wear it when my lips are a bit dry and I have a hard time to wear lipstick. Last product in the lip category is the Maybelline Coloursensational Elixir in 095 Blush Essence. Not available in Belgium unfortunately (although you can find them in other European countries), but the texture is quite similar to that of the L’Oréal Color Riche Extraordinaire lip lacquers which I love and adore. Blush Essence is the perfect dark pink for Fall and one I love to pop on at the office because it’s quite subtle and moisturizing.

Last but not least in the makeup section is my beloved Maybelline Fit Me concealer. I’ve been pushing myself to the limit lately in terms of work, the blog, projects and planning which has caused a lot of stress and sleepless nights and this concealer has managed to keep my face at least a little bit more presentable. It’s a covering concealer with good coverage, so you can either use this under your eyes or on the rest of your face to conceal spots and blemishes. It’s not drying and stays put throughout the day (as long as I keep from touching my face, which I’ll admit, is a bit of a problem). I’ll do a post on more of my favourite concealers soon, so definitely keep your eyes peeled for that!

Not much has been happening in the skin care department, as you can see. I’ve been suffering from some breakouts lately and that’s when I turn to my beloved La Roche-Posay Effacer Duo cream. I put this on right before I go to bed and by the next morning my face ‘ll look a lot better already. I’ve worked my way through this tube and I’m excited to try its successor next, the Effacer Duo+ which is rumoured to be even better!

One of the perfumes I’ve been wearing the most is Trussardi’s Delicate Rose fragrance*. If you love roses and fruity floral fragrances are your thing, definitely give this one a whiff. I thought it was good when I got it last year, but this year it has really grown on me and I’ve been wearing it a lot.

And lastly, an all-time fave since I discovered it in London, but one I’ve been needing a lot during October, is the Batiste Cherry dry shampoo. I’ve done a post on Batiste dry shampoos which you can read here. I don’t know what I would do without it. Often my hair still looks good when I go to bed but when I wake up it looks like a grease ball is stuck on the top of my head. Batiste is the solution to fix that in a jiffy before I run out the door. Knowing that this my last can before I’ll completely run out and you can’t get this scent in Belgium makes me cry, so I just had to put this in this month’s faves post.

No dislikes this time, I’m thinking of saving them up for a dislikes post. Let me know in the comments if you’d be interested in seeing that.
