Not sure if I’ve shared this information before, but I’m a bit of a chocoholic. Not a day goes by without me stuffing my face with this sweet cocoa goodness. L’Oréal thought it might be a good idea to create a chocolate-inspired product that even smells like chocolate, minus the calories. Meet the L’Oréal Les Chocolats Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick!
The packaging is plastic yet has a classy frosted glass look with gold details. I love the teardrop shaped applicator L’Oréal has been using for all of their new releases. It has some sort of reservoir in the middle which helps you to spread out the product more evenly and avoid ending up with a lip contour of buildup product.
The formula itself has a heavy fragrance of artificial chocolate. Can’t say I’m a fan but it doesn’t bother me. The moment you swatch any of the colours you will find the formula is highly pigmented. Exactly what I expect from a liquid matte lip.
I tried 2 colours; Candy Man and Box of Chocolates, both beautiful shades but very unlike what I’m used to. Box of Chocolates is a milk chocolate type of colour aka way too deep for me to pull off. Candy Man on the other hand is that typical mauve brown that is really hot right now and I’m slowly trying to get accustomed to it. Right now I think I’m too fair to pull it off but I think it will look better once I get a tan.

The liquid grabs onto the lips without feeling dry or uncomfortable in any way. L’Oréal promises up to 16hr wear. Honestly I don’t know anyone who wears their makeup that long but the product does hold on pretty strong.. until you eat or drink. Then the middle part starts to rub off a little, but you can reapply without problems. To remove it I recommend using a cleanser that can remove waterproof makeup because they hold on really well.
Overall I love the idea behind these and the formula is great, although I wish there were some more colours that would match the fair peeps among us. Now I’m going to eat that ruby chocolate Kitkat that has been staring at me. Are there any chocoholics around here? Let me hear you in the comments!
