Those of you who have been following this blog for a while probably have noticed: I don’t talk about nail polish as often anymore. It used to be the makeup item I loved to collect the most but as I was watching my stash pile up I got less interested and started to focus on other things. That was until the L’Oréal Color Riche Vernis à l’Huile nail polishes hit my doorstep.

L’Oréal released 15 shades in Belgium, in colours ranging from opal white over to deep purple, which is quite a decent range if you ask me. What I immediately noticed, is the pretty glass packaging. It has a similar size to the Essie nail polishes, only with a golden cap and the embossing of the glass that makes them look like little grenades. The wide-angled brush enables me to paint my nails in just one single swipe, which definitely saves time. It’s not necessary because the pigment is spot on, but I always go for a second coat anyway.

So what’s the deal with the oils anyway, you ask? It doesn’t really benefit the health of your nails in any way (or not that I know of), but it gives the most beautiful glossy finish. It’s so glossy that it makes your nails look really healthy. You can actually see the oil in the bottle (looks like smoke), so do make sure to give the bottle a good shake before you start applying. Pictured here from light to dark are: 114 Nude Demoiselle, 222 Jardin Des Roses, 442 Coral Trianon, 550 Rouge Sauvage and 662 Moka Chic. Out of these 5, I’d say I’d get the most wear of the pink and coral shades, especially now that it’s Summer.

Besides the easy application and good pigmentation, these are also really long wearing. Even though my nails haven’t been in the best shape, these wear 7 days on me before they start to chip. I showed a picture on Snapchat recently wearing 222 Jardin Des Roses on the 7th day and it barely looked chipped at all! Really impressive. Essie still has more unique colours for sure, but if you love a glossy look, do have a look at these next time you’re at the drugstore. I’ll be having my fingers crossed for more ‘special’ shades in the future.

L’Oréal Color Riche Vernis à l’Huile – € 10
