How to | Chocolate Pie

Sunday is definitely my least favorite day of the week. Shops are closed, there’s nothing on tv, there are not many people online and there’s really nothing much to do at all. My day is usually filled with sleeping, visiting family, packing to leave for Ghent, taking pictures, preparing blogposts and baking. I’m by far the biggest sweettooth of the family and baking is simply what I do best!

Chocolate pie is one of my Sunday favorites so I thought I’d share my recipe with you in case you’re bored. It may just look like a pile of cow dung but I can guarantee if you’re just a chocoholic like me, this will get your taste buds into seventh heaven!

Ingredients for 4 people:
– 140 g fondant chocolate
– 140 g butter
– 140 g powder sugar
– cacao powder
– 5 eggs

Chocolate pie in 10 simple steps:

  1. Seperate the egg-white and the yolk in two seperate bowls and add half of the powder sugar to the bowl with the yolk. Beat it until it foams.
  2. Put a cooking pot over low heat and mix the melting butter with the chocolate while stirring
  3. Mix the egg-white until stiff and carefully add the powder sugar
  4. Add the melted chocolate-butter mix to the beat egg yolk, stir it and then add the egg white and stir it again
  5. Put a layer of baking paper on the bottom of the tin and grease the edges with butter so the batter doesn’t stick afterwards
  6. Pour 3/4 of the batter in the tin and let the rest cool off and stiffen
  7. Put the pie in a 180°C preheated oven for about 20-25 min
  8. Let the pie cool off completely and turn it around on a grill
  9. Put the rest of the cool chocolate meringue on the pie
  10. Decorate with some cacao powder

Enjoy!

Not feeling like chocolate today? Why don’t you try some American pancakes?
