Gosh Velvet Touch Lipstick – New A/W 2014 Colours

Just when you thought I was done showing you new lipsticks, I’m back with another batch. Sorry, not sorry. Lipsticks are pretty much my favourite makeup product at the moment (although I’ve been noticing a shift towards blushes lately. More about that later). The PR agency behind Gosh was so kind to send me some of their new A/W14 releases to try out and one of those releases that caught my eye immediately were the new Velvet Touch lipstick colours. Truth to be told, I had never noticed them at my drugstore before. Probably also because the display at my local drugstores had been half-empty for a long time up until a little while ago when they completely renewed the displays.

Anyway, Gosh has released 8 stunning new colours in the Velvet Touch range and I got sent 2 of them; 158 Yours Forever* and 159 Boheme*. Not exactly the colours I usually go for and that’s quite the understatement. Bold and especially darker colours still scare me a bit. I always think they look amazing on others, but not for me. But after swatching the texture seemed really nice and I headed to the drugstore to get my usual pink shade 155 Innocent and a little fun shade 1, the pink lilac 156 Romance.

I like the sleek look of the packaging. It’s light and plastic, but the matte black texture with shiny embossed logo makes it look more expensive. The bottom has a sticker with the name of the lipstick and the colour which gives a pretty good indication of how the colour actually looks like. Always a plus.

The Velvet Touch lipsticks have a super creamy formula with light-reflecting particles that give it a nice shine. They’re pretty moisturizing too thanks to the added Vitamin E and vegetable oils, and will last you a while, although some touch-ups are required after eating and/or drinking.

Swatches f.l.t.r.:

159 Boheme*: A berry purple

I must admit the darker colours have better pigmentation than the others who might need a couple of extra layers to build up the pigmentation. I feel like the darker colours therefore are less glossy too and have more of a velvet texture. Although they’re pretty moisturizing, it’s better to start off with lips that are in a good condition because the pigment tends to crawl into fine lines if you’re not careful.

These lipsticks are a well loved addition to my collection, mostly thanks to the cream moisturizing texture and gorgeous range of colours. Much to my surprise, 159 Boheme turned out to be my favourite out of the four. It’s the perfect berry plum purple for Fall, even though it’s not exactly appropriate for every day wear.

The Gosh Velvet Touch Lipsticks are now available at the drugstore (Kruidvat in Belgium & The Netherlands) for € 9,50.

Which one is your favourite? Are there colours you’re hesitant to wear?

I actually adore the two shades they’ve sent you, especially Boheme which will be perfect during fall season. I bet it looks real good on you 😉

Thanks! I love it too, but it feels so weird at the same time. Completely different from what I’m used to.

Helemaal eens!
