GlamGlow Volcasmic Matte Glow Moisturizer

When the Glamglow Volcasmic Matte Glow Moisturizer came in the mail I had no idea what to expect. Matte glow?? What is that supposed to mean? Confused and convinced it probably was some gimmick I wouldn’t like, I left it in my cabinet for awhile. In my defense, I did have quite a few of moisturizers to review at the time. Once I tried it, I knew I had been holding off on trying what was the most unique formula I tried in years. A closer look at the packaging led me to the words ‘Made in Korea‘ and suddenly everything started to make sense.

Let me just start of by saying that this product is for normal, combination & oily skin. The people that I can tell will enjoy this the most however is those who are looking to combat their shiny face (or T-zone) but don’t want to mattify the living **** out of their face either. Because you know, glow = life!

When you open the Glamglow Volcasmic jar for the first time, you’ll notice -besides the heavy fragrance- a matte balm that looks like one of those balm-to-oil cleansers. Once it gets in touch with the warmth of the skin, it melts down to a soft & light water based moisturizer that you can easily spread on your face. And this is where the glow kicks in. The glitters or shimmers that you’ll find in so many high-end moisturizers are nowhere to be seen, only a healthy glowy finish.

When paired with the right moisturizing essences and serums, this fellow helps you stay hydrated even during the harshest winter weather conditions. But I can see this probably works even better during summer, when there is more need to tone down the oils, which is taken care of by the volcanic minerals in the formula. Another plus is that the Glamglow Volcasmic Matte Glow Moisturizer does a great job at evening out the skin, making this a moisturizer and primer in one. It has that sort of silicone-slip to it, which I don’t have a problem with. The only thing that lacks here would be a proper SPF.

Ingredients: Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Ceresin, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Peg-10 Dimethicone, Propanediol, Volcanic Sand, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Leaf Cell Culture Extract, Daphne Odora Callus Extract, Opuntia Ficus-Indica Callus Culture Extract, Opuntia Ficus-Indica Stem Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Silica, Sorbitan Olivate, Panthenol, Distearyldimonium Chloride, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Sodium Chloride, Caprylyl Glycol, Cetyl Alcohol, Fragrance (Parfum), Citral, Linalool, Limonene, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol.

Is this the best moisturizer out there in terms of moisturizing ingredients? No. I mostly rely on my essences and serums for that anyway as they go deeper into the skin. However, this is one to look out for if you have problems with too much oil production (either your entire face or your T-zone). It helped keep my t-zone oil free for 7 hours, but at the end of the day I still need to go over my face with some blotting paper though.
