Glam up those nails with ESSIE

Two weeks ago I had the chance to meet Essie and the story behind her nail polish brand during a wonderful event in the heart of Brussels.

Essie Weingarten has been fascinated by nail polishes since she was 3 years old. It was clear she was destined to make a career out of this passion for nail polishes. Since it has been 30 years since she took that leap, we can call it a success to say the least. Essie’s message was clear: dare to dream and live your dreams! Anything is possible! She even encouraged us, bloggers to keep doing what we do, because bloggers have played a big role in the success of her company throughout the years. It’s was actually a pretty refreshing statement, if you consider all the *excusez-moi pour le mot* crap we had to take in the past. She’s such a heartwarming and inspirational figure and I’m so happy I was able to have met her.

The launch of ESSIE

ESSIE has been thé nail polish reference in many nail salons across the U.S. for 30 years and the brand has now announced they’re ready to take over the European market, starting with Belgium! Of course, the ESSIE line has been available for a while in a couple of exclusive counters like Senteurs d’Ailleurs in Brussels or Cosmeticary in Antwerp/Bxl. BUT! This is not the same range I’m talking about! Those counters sell the professional line used in the nail salons and that have exclusive, more fashionable daring colors and a thin brush.

The new line that was introduced to the Belgian press that day is a brand new line, created to consume at home, that uses a thicker applicator brush and a starter range of the 100 best sold ESSIE colors. And as if that wasn’t enough choice for us to handle, they’ll also release 4 limited edition collections with 6 new nail polishes each year!

Here’s a little preview of the upcoming limited edition winter collection and the manicure I had done, using Bobbing for Baubles, one of the colors of the Winter Collection. I’ll do a full NOTD post on them as soon as I’ve worn them all, so stay tuned!

All ESSIE nail polish products (except for the professional range) will be exclusively available as of November 2011 in Di and Ici Paris XL.

Price range: colors 10,99 euro ; top coats 10,99 euro ; base coats 12,99 euro ; masks 12,99.
