Last Saturday I left chilly little Belgium to become an inhabitant of Diesel Island; land of the stupid, home of the brave. Well, at least for a couple of hours that is ;-). Read the full story after the jump!
It’s Saturday afternoon when a whole bunch of Ghent-based hipsters gather at the S.M.A.K. parking lot to wait for the bus that is going to take them to the land of stupidity and bravery, Diesel Island! With nothing more than bikini’s and swim shorts in our luggage and no idea what to expect, we board the bus to Amsterdam. The fun starts in the bus where the girls engage in makeup sessions and everyone sings along to the 90’s classics that are booming out of the bus’s stereo. When it gets dark and the disco lasers go on, we really start to get pumped up. “Are we there yet?”
Upon arrival at the Miranda bath we had to go through boarding security where the flight attendants checked our luggage and outfits. If you weren’t dressed according to the “the wetter, the better” dress code, there was no way you’d get in. It’s strip or miss the trip, baby! Once our clothes were off and we entered the pool area, the party could really begin. The decor was truly amazing: with tropical plants, inflatable dolls, pedalo’s, water slides, bonfires, jacuzzi’s and tons of free booze I knew this was going to be E-P-I-C.
As the 1000 invitees start to flock in I notice how goodlooking everyone is and I start to wonder if there was a casting for this party. Diesel sure knows how to pick civilians to inhabit its island!
I can truly say this is one of the best parties I’ve been to in my whole life and I wish we could’ve stayed longer. Can’t wait for the next edition in Belgium in 2012!!
