Catrice Big City Life: shoplog

Last week Catrice released ‘Big City Life’, a new limited edition collection based on 4 major capital cities: New York, Berlin, London and Sydney. I had to visit 4 Kruidvat stores before I could get my hands on the products I wanted.

First of all I blame Hanne for making me want these things in the first place. Shame on you for trying to get me broke! Lol! At first I wanted to get multiple palettes since they are so inexpensive. But then I realised I had to stay strong, fight the collector inside of me and just go for one palette and one nail polish. After a quick swatch I grabbed the Berlin palette (of which there was already only one left) and the Mimosa-like-ish nail polish from the London collection and hurried to the register without even looking at the other palettes.

The packaging is an eyecatcher; beautiful buildings of Berlin decorate the front and the inside of the palette. On the back you can find instructions on how to create the Berlin look using the shades. The box is rather thick, which may give the illusion that there’s more in it, but unfortunately there isn’t. The storage of the kohl pencil and applicator brush is way too deep, making it hard to grab them.

From left to right: Unter Den Linden – Siegessäule

Then onto the colors. Unter Den Linden and Siegessäule are two blushes that come in the Berlin palette. While Unter Den Linden is very bright and pigmentated, Siegessäule really disappoints. It’s way too light, even for my skin tone.

From left to right: Checkpoint Charlie – Berlin Wall – Brandenburger Tor – Ku’Damm – Am Alex – Tiergarten

The reason I went for the Berlin palette is that it contains natural colors. Those are the colors I use the most, both during summer and winter. The swatches you see here are made dry and without an eye color base. The texture is really soft, only Am Alex was a bit granular. The shades have a nice shimmery finish, which gives off a nice effect when light hits them.

The kohl pencil has a great pigmentation and applies really well. I’m far less excited about the applicator brush that’s also included. The hairs -if you can even call them hairs- are really hard. I prefer brushes with actual hair so I’m going to skip on using it.

All Big City Life palettes cost € 6,99 and the nail polishes € 2,49. All I can say is I find the Berlin palette definitely worth the money!

What do you think of the collection or this palette in particular? Have you managed to get one or are you planning to? Btw, I still owe you a NOTD of the London nail polish! Coming up soon, pinky swear!

Money well spend dus 😉

Nice palette you chose 😀 I just love the packaging of this collection, I got Berlin & Sydney and from my family I got the New York one, so sweet =D I never got anything from the Catrice Limited Editions but I just had to get some of this collection 😀 And then I bought a nailpolish called New York, such a pretty blue colour 🙂

Have fun with your palette and nailpolish =D

      Hi Angela
Most Kruidvat stores (the bigger ones) will carry them now. I’ve spotted them in Antwerp, Ghent and my hometown Roeselare. The smaller the store, the less likely they’ll have them. I hope you can find the ones you want!

Got the Berlin one in Roeselare, but it was already the last one! Too bad they only have one display per store. They still had plenty of the other cities though.

Ik heb twee paletten en twee lakjes mee en ik ben toch een beetje trots op mezelf dat ik niet alles meegenomen heb :p
