Marc Jacobs fans rejoice! After the news about Michael Kors’ beauty line last month, the news broke that Marc’s now also expanding his beauty range to makeup.After his wonderful perfume creations together with Coty, Jacobs has now collaborated with Sephora Originals on a line of color collections set to launch this summer. I honestly don’t know where the man found the time to create this range while he already has 3 fashion lines in the works – Marc Jacobs, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuiton – but the collection looks promising!

As for what you can expect, Jacobs told WWD that he doesn’t like naturals–”that’s a little lazy”–so don’t expect to see many nude palettes. The designer was very involved in every aspect of the line, from the packaging (inspired by a shiny, black lacquer table he has at home) to the product names (inspired by everything from his tattoos to his favorite movies).

There will be plenty to go around as the collection will be launching carrying 122 different products broken down into four categories: Smart Complexion (foundation, concealer & powder), Blacquer (eye liner, lash lifter & gel crayon), Hi-Per Color (eye products, lip products & nail polish), and Boy Tested Girl Approved ( unisex essentials including lip balm, brow tamer and concealer). Even though I’m more of a naturals kind of girl, I like what I see so far. Simple, yet chic & playful packaging with a wide range of colors I can’t wait to swatch! I’m secretly hoping for some limited editions with his famous drawings as well.

Although color cosmetics are considered to be risky business for designers, Sephora is so confident in the success of Jacobs’ line that the brand is launching simultaneously in all Sephora stores in the U.S. and Canada, online and in select Marc Jacobs boutiques on August 9th. A Holiday and Spring 2014 collection are already in the works and so is the plan to bring the range to Europe (2014) and China (2015). Prices will range from $24 for lip balm to $59 for a seven color eye shadow palette.
