My Beauty Diary Japanese Cherry Blossom Mask

If you have been following my blog for a while, you know about my obsession with Japanese Cherry Blossoms. It should then come as no surprise I mainly bought the My Beauty Diary Japanese Cherry Blossom Mask because of that ingredient without even knowing what the mask was supposed to do. Shame! I know I know.. sometimes I’m weak too!

For those who are not familiar with MBD; My Beauty Diary is a well-loved Taiwanese sheet mask brand that has been around for years. I have used their sheet masks before and really enjoyed them, which is why it didn’t take me long to purchase them when I saw them in Chinatown, NYC. In fact, I think My Beauty Diary is the brand that first introduced me to sheet masks years ago and made me fall in love with them, so that really says a lot! I used to get them from Sasa.com but sadly, they don’t seem to sell them anymore.

You can buy these individually for $ 2 or in a box of 10 like I did. I can’t remember the exact price I paid, but it definitely wasn’t more than $ 15 for the whole box, which felt like a good deal. The packaging of the Japanese Cherry Blossom Masks looks really cute: they come in a white box with blossoming sakura tree. The sachets have a baby pink colour and a beautiful illustration of some cherry blossom tree branches and falling petals.

As you open the sheet mask sachet, you are immediately greeted by an incredible floral scent. It’s a love or hate thing and I personally love it. After gently unfolding the mask and getting rid of the protection layer, try to fit the mask to your best ability onto your face. This sheet mask is way too big for my face and doesn’t really fit around my nose & eye area, so I always use it while lying down to avoid it from slipping away. I also tend to cut it around the nose and eyes to make it fit my face. Each sheet mask comes with 23 ml of product which is a very generous amount. Whatever is left after applying the sheet mask I tend to use for my neck, chest and arms. After 20 minutes, I remove the mask and pat in all of the excess product. It feels rather sticky, so I always use it before bed.

Although the My Beauty Diary Japanese Cherry Blossom Mask used to be popular back in the day, it’s not to be seen in the current top 5 and it’s a bit hard to find nowadays. In case you’re interested in trying some My Beauty Diary sheet masks, these should be a little easier to find:

My Beauty Diary Top 5 Sheet Masks:
1. Black Pearl Mask
2. Pearl Powder Mask
3. Bulgarian White Rose Mask
4. Red Wine Mask
5. Aloe Mask

The My Beauty Diary Japanese Cherry Blossom Masks are supposed to help with Brightening, Soothing & Regenerating and they did an okay job for me. They’re not the best sheet mask I’ve tried in terms of moisturizing the skin, but my skin did feel more hydrated than when I didn’t use them. Afterwards my skin looked more radiant but I wouldn’t say it helped me clear any dark spots or anything like that, so I wouldn’t say this is a must-buy. I get why this used to be popular, but today there are just better masks out there. In fact, I’ll be reviewing the n°1 top seller; the Black Pearl Mask next to see if it’s really worth the hype, so stay tuned!

Important note: beware of fakes when purchasing this product online! However, the MBD sheet masks have received an update (both in packaging, mask size, ingredients etc.) since I purchased mine, so yours will not look like this but that doesn’t mean its a fake!

Which brand first introduced you to sheet masks? Let me know in the comments!
