April Favourites

Hey guys, hope your week started off great! Today’s post is a quick roundup of what I’ve been loving in April. Again not many (new) things, since I’ve been traveling for the most part and I only took older stuff or sample sizes with me to Japan. This month’s favourites is therefore going to be somewhat of a travel edition.

I’d like to start off my April favourites with body stuff and one of the best new discoveries I did last month was the Shinjuku Bloom Body Scrub from & Other Stories. I’ve wanted to try their body scrubs ever since the first launch of &OS, so when I went to the opening of the store in Ghent, I knew it just had to happen. There’s something about the texture of the scrub I’ve never seen before. Some scrubs have a lot of oil and some have a cream like texture. Well this one is so firm I can only compare it to a paste. It feels incredibly nice on the skin and does a great job at removing dead skin. On top of that it has one of the best fragrances & Other Stories have to offer.

Second is the Rituals Zensation foaming shower gel sensation with Organic Rice Milk & Cherry Blossom. You see the full sized can here, because I took my travel size with me to Japan. Because it foams so well, I could easily do 3 weeks with the travel size. This is just one of those bath & body products I keep repurchasing. Effective & affordable, what more do you need?

Another discovery you travel lovers need to know about is the Gilette Venus Snap Travel Razor. It’s basically a mini version of their famous razor blade (with 5 blades) and it comes in a little travel case. You don’t even need to buy specific razor blades, as it is compatible with all Venus razorblades. Super handy!

If were to ask me what my favourite fragrance is right now, I’d say: Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black. I’ve worn this throughout my trip to Japan thanks to a special sample I saved for a special occasion *wink*. It’s a woody and dark fragrance that can be worn by both women and men. Unfortunately you can only get this at Sephora in the US.

As for skincare, the La Roche-Posay  Toleriane Ultra Makeup remover* was hands down my favourite new discovery. It doesn’t get any more travel friendly than this. A must if you go on a trip soon and want to stick to beauty basics.

The Catrice Prime and Fine Eyeshadow Base is one of the new permanent products in the Catrice display at Kruidvat right now. My Urban Decay Primer Potions expired, so I was looking for something new. This eyeshadow base is probably the best base I’ve ever come across in the budget segment. It has somewhat of a light nude colour, which helps evening out the eyelids and it really helps keeping that smokey eye in check all day.

I only wanted to bring one lip colour with me to Japan and since the Japanese like to keep their makeup light and natural, I went for a fun peachy pink toned gloss from Nyx. Indeed, the Nyx Butter Gloss in Apple Strudel I got in New York last year is literally all I’ve been wearing on my 3-week stay and not even once I felt like I needed something else. It’s moisturizing, it has good pigmentation, is not sticky and looks fun & effortless. I want to get more colours of these!

When I came back, getting a little more colour felt like the right thing to do. I wanted something that wouldn’t dry out my lips, but still give me a pop of colour that would last. Givenchy‘s new Rouge-à-Porter lipstick* is the way to achieve that look. I wasn’t too sure about the colour at first but I ended up wearing it a lot.

So that’s it. These are my favourite products of April 2015.  Anything you’ve tried or love to try?

I recently tried my first NYX Butter Gloss and I’m hooked on the formula! Apple Strudel looks like a cute shade. I have Cherry Cheese Cake.

The formula is definitely one of the best. I’ll have a couple of them, but not yet Cherry Cheese Cake. Might try that one next 😉 Is NYX easy to get ahold of in Switzerland?
