A’Pieu x Rilakkuma Honey Glow Serum Tint

Following my review of the first batch of A’Pieu x Rilakkuma products it was inevitable that I would give in and buy some more from the second batch which launched in the Fall. (I have literally no self-control when it comes to Rilakkuma – sorry.) Two of the products I purchased were the A’Pieu x Rilakkuma Honey Glow Serum Tint and A’Pieu x Rilakkuma Honey and Milk Lip Oil. These are chunkier in size than the Water Light Tints I previously reviewed and come in 5 shades. Because I slightly prefer these colours over those of the Water Light Tints I bought all shades except the orange – orange is NOT my colour y’all.

As said these come in chunky yet cute packaging featuring my favourite Japanese cartoon bear Rilakkuma in various poses. I forgot to take a picture, but the picture of the Lip Oil illustrates it a little, but the doe-foot applicator is just as huge, making it a little difficult to apply the product properly. I mostly use it sideways to prevent applying too much product in one go and stain my teeth. Indeed, these oil based lip tints do stain which can be either an advantage if you like a colour that lasts, or a disadvantage if you don’t apply it right. To illustrate, I added a swatch below of my lips after I wiped away the product.

My lips aren’t pigmented at all, so what you see here is all because of the tints. The reason why the middle of my lips has a deeper colour is because I prefer to wear them as a gradient lip on a day-to-day basis. The Honey Glow Serum Tints are actually really pigmented, so a little product goes a long way. Even though the collection only comes in 5 shades, I wouldn’t say you need all. In my opinion the difference between RD01 and RD02 for example is too small to justify having them both. The shades I gravitate the most towards are CR01 and RD02.

In addition, the oil makes them really comfortable to wear, even when you have dry lips in Winter. If you loved the L’Oréal Color Riche Extraordinaire Lip Oils but was looking for a little more pigmentation, these are worth giving a try. Even though the oil wears off after a couple of hours, you’ll still be left with a stain for the rest of the day. At that time I mostly choose to follow up with a transparent lip oil, like the A’Pieu x Rilakkuma Honey and Milk Lip Oil.

This is a transparent oil (you won’t see the yellow colour on the lips) that feels incredibly comforting on the lips as it creates a barrier that locks in the moisture of the lips and prevents the environment from drying out your lips during harsh weather conditions. Despite the fact that it contains honey, it’s not stickier than your average lip oil. Unfortunately I was unable to find the ingredients list of this product so I can’t really say much about it other than that I’ve been truly enjoying carrying this around in my bag and applying it on-the-go. I mean, just look at the cutesy packaging – I just want to take it out to look at it.

Although it feels slightly heavier than a lip balm, my lips feel better protected and for a longer time. Whenever I apply this in the evening, it will still be there when I wake up. The Rilakkuma version is limited edition, but the Milk and Honey products are permanently part of the A’Pieu range in case you’d like to give it a try.
