The Balm has arrived

If you’re a regular visitor of Di (Belgian drugstore), you’ve probably spotted it already: a stand filled with pretty new cosmetics from The Balm. Even though Di introduced this U.S. brand already a couple of months ago, I felt like the stand in my Di store wasn’t getting enough love so an introduction post was definitely in order. I get it though, it’s a new and relatively unknown brand here and it’s pricier than the usual brands at Di (L’Oréal, Maybelline, Max Factor, Bourjois, 2B etc), but it’s definitely worth checking into.

I first came across it at &OtherStories in London and was deeply intrigued, yet I didn’t buy anything which I regretted later on. When Di announced they were going to sell the brand and sent me a couple of items to test I felt like now was my chance to try them at last! I’m still in testing mode, but I can already tell you the FratBoy blush has practically been glued to my cheeks for weeks. It is so.damn.pretty!

Als je regelmatig een Di winkel binnenstapt, heb je ze vast al gespot: de mooie stands tjokvol met nieuwe cosmetica van The Balm. Di introduceerde dit make-upmerk uit de States al een tijdje geleden, maar ik had zo het gevoel dat de stand in mijn Di winkel – heel onterecht- niet genoeg liefde kreeg, dus was een introductie-artikel zeker aan de orde. Ik snap het wel, het is een nieuw en relatief onbekend merk hier, en het is best ook wel prijzig in vergelijking met de andere merken bij Di (L’Oréal, Maybelline, Max Factor, Bourjois, 2B etc), maar het is zeker de moeite waard om eens te bekijken.

Ik kwam het merk voor het eerst tegen toen ik in Londen &Other Stories bezocht. Hoewel ik geïntrigeerd was heb ik toen niets meegenomen, iets wat ik me later toch wel beklaagd heb. Toen Di éénmaal aankondigde dat ze het merk zouden gaan verkopen en ik op de koop toe ook wat staaltjes toegestuurd kreeg vond ik dat het hoog tijd was om er maar eens mee aan de slag te gaan – eindelijk! Ik ben nog steeds in test modus voor bepaalde items, al kan ik wel al verklappen dat de FratBoy blush de afgelopen weken zich bijna onafgebroken op mijn wangen bevond. Hij is zo. verschrikkelijk. mooi!

Beauty in the blink of an eye!

The Balm’s philosophy is to offer quick solutions for all sorts of beauty wishes and needs, no matter if you’re 15 or 51. It thrives to produce make-up for ‘on-the-go’ that is easy in use. The Balm offers a complete make-up range, from eye shadows to concealers and lipsticks in a simple, yet fun vintage-looking packaging, which kind of reminds me of Benefit. The carton packaging might seem a bit cheap at first, but its sturdiness, magnetic locking system and fun/clever prints will have you forget about that right away. The products are said to contain Vitamin A, E & C, are paraben-free and are not tested on animals. And I really don’t know why any brand would still test on animals because The Balm manages to offer qualitative products with excellent pigmentation.

De filosofie achter The Balm is om snelle oplossingen te bieden voor allerlei schoonheidswensen en -behoeften, ongeacht of je nu 15 of 51 bent. Het streeft ernaar om make-up te produceren voor onderweg dat ook heel gemakkelijk is in gebruik. The Balm biedt een compleet gamma aan make-up, gaande van oogschaduw tot concealers en lipsticks, in een simpel maar leuke vintage verpakking die mij wat aan Benefit doet denken. De kartonnen verpakking mag dan wel op het eerste zicht wat goedkoop ogen, maar de stevigheid, het magnetisch sluitsysteem en de leuke opschriften doen je dat zo weer vergeten. De producten bevatten vitamine A, E & C, zijn vrij van parabenen en worden -hoera- niet getest op dieren. Ik snap ook helemaal niet waarom men in deze tijd nog op dieren zou testen want The Balm bewijst dat dat helemaal niet nodig is om kwalitatieve producten te kunnen leveren die bovendien ook heel gepigmenteerd zijn.

For € 12,50 you can already add some ‘The Balm’ magic to your stash. I find the palettes to be a little overpriced, but Di does a lot of promotions so keep you’re eyes peeled. Or you could always put one on your birthday wish list. Damn, why didn’t I think of that sooner? 

Voor € 12,50 heb je al wat van The Balm in huis. De paletten zijn logischerwijs het duurste wat The Balm te bieden heeft en ik vind ze ook best wel duur. Ik hoop dan ook dat Di hier wat promoties rond gaat doen, dus hou die promotiefolder zeker in de gaten. Of je kunt er nog altijd eentje op je b-day wish list zetten natuurlijk. Damn, waarom heb ik dit niet eerder bedacht?

I can only say my first impression of these is really good and I can only hope Di will bring this collection to more stores throughout the country. In the meantime some products have already found their way onto my wish list and as soon as I’m able to get them in a Di store closer to home, I’m sure it won’t take long before they end up on my basket. *Oh hi there DownBoy blush and Nude’Tude eyeshadow palette.*

Ik ga nog wat testen en laat jullie zeker nog weten wat mijn absolute favorieten zijn. Laat gerust een comment achter mocht je reviews willen lezen of swatches zien van bepaalde producten. Ik kan alvast al zeggen dat The Balm een goeie eerste indruk bij mij heeft nagelaten en ik kan alleen maar hopen dat Di het merk in meer winkels gaat introduceren. Ondertussen hebben nog producten hun weg naar mijn wish list al gevonden en van zodra ik ze dichter kan vinden, zal het zeker niet lang duren vooraleer ze ook in mijn winkelmandje liggen. *Oh hi there DownBoy blush en Nude’Tude oogschaduwpalet.*
