I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking forward to the Holiday collections. Despite sticking to the same packaging every year, Dior manages to suck me in every time. The gold details look very chic and sophisticated, and even though they are a nod at old-school glamour, they are never really out of style. They almost look like Christmas ornaments on their own, making them the perfect collectables or gifts for the Holiday season.
This year though Dior – or should I say Peter Philips (yay Belgium!) – has really outdone himself and created a collection around gemstones that is absolutely stunning. Meet the ‘Dior Precious Rocks‘!
Diorific Khol Powder Lipstick in 751 Intense Garnet
One product that certainly caught my eye is the Diorific Khôl. Dior’s first ever kohl for the lips offers a new way to apply lipstick with its ultra-precise application bullet with an intense, velvety matte color and a flawless finish. Its creamy wax formula with plant-based butter and highly concentrated pigments softens lips, delivering a velvety-soft finish and an addictive experience. Precise application was never this easy! If only there was a way to keep it as sharp all the time.
I’m wearing 751 Intense Garnet, a beautiful raspberry red. Not my usual colour, but after application it was only a matter of time I fell in love. The powdery formula makes it the perfect go-to lipstick for those who are looking for a matte finish without the dry feeling.
5 Couleurs Palette in 857 Ruby
Can we just stop for a minute and appreciate the details of this 5 Couleurs Palette? It’s almost too pretty to use, but it would really be a shame not to. Just look at those pretty shades! Dior brings us 2 limited edition eyeshadow palettes that are bound to inspire you to try something new. As someone who tends to wear nude shades 80% of the time, I must admit this was certainly the case. The Ruby edition dresses eyes in red, burgundy, brown, and ivory and make it easy to create a bold festive look or a more subtle style to suit every mood, every desire, every moment.
Swatches: Diorific Khôl 751 Intense Garnet – Dior 5 Couleurs 857 Ruby
I’m wearing 857 Ruby: a pearly blend of reds, browns, and ivories. At first I thought it was going to be a burgundy type of palette judging from the promotional photos, but after application the overall look was more on the pink side of the spectrum. The pigmentation was very good, making this one of my favourite palettes Dior has done so far. Glad to have this is my collection!
Diorific Vernis liner in Precious Rocks
Diorific reveals its first-ever nail liner designed to decorate your nails like gemstones with festive shades for the holidays. In one ultra-precise golden stroke, Dior Vernis Liner delivers a clear varnish arrayed with gold flakes in various sizes, embellishing nails with the sparkling effect of countless little gems.
The thin brush makes it really easy to apply, even with a free hand like I did for the look below where I’m wearing 785 Dior Cosmopolite as a base and the Diorific Vernis liner in Precious Rocks on top. Although it certainly caught the attention from the people in my close environment, I wouldn’t be as eager to spend as much on an nail art item as I would on a lipstick or eyeshadow palette, but it does make a nice gift.
