With so many beauty products launching at the drugstore each week, it’s sometimes hard to keep up. I’ve had these 2 lying around for a couple of months, so it’s about time I share my thoughts.
The Maybelline Master Precise Curvy liner is the one I was drawn to the most at first. The unique design resembles some kind of pod from the future. It’s quite short but the shape offers a nice grip. Not only is the packaging unique, the felt nib has a quite similar shape. By holding the liner differently, you can create different effects. No matter if you like big lines or a thin one, the Curvy liner has got your back. Maybelline recommends to start off applying the liner sideways for a generously curvy line and finish using the tip for a curved wing.
Many blogs mentioned how pigmented this liner is, but unfortunately that’s the part where I kind of struggled with this product. It didn’t give me even color payoff when I tried to draw a fine line. I had to go over the same area a couple of times and even then it was difficult to get a crisp line. Thick strokes are fine but because of my hooded lids, those aren’t really an option for me.
I like the concept of the liner, but sadly the Maybelline Master Precise Curvy liner doesn’t meet my needs. I have liners in my stash I love a lot more so I’ll be giving this one away to a friend.
The Maybelline Lash Sensational Luscious mascara is the second installment to the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara range. And I haven’t even gotten around trying the first one that I purchased! Luckily my experiences with this mascara is a whole different story. It’s enhanced with rose oil, safflower oil and argan oil to reduce brittleness while creating a softer feel to the lashes.
The plastic wand is cone shaped and the bristles are quite short. This makes it a bit difficult to get to the root of the lashes without dying your eyelids black in the process. To be honest I struggled a bit with this mascara in the beginning. It turns out it takes some work to apply and I’d recommend taking your time and not to use too many layers to avoid clumping. I always keep a lash comb at hand if I’m in a hurry.
If applied right, the mascara separates the lashes well, lengthens them and most importantly for me; knows how to hold a curl. Don’t expect it to curl by itself, but after a quick run-through with your lash curler, this mascara will hold on to the curl for the rest of the day. Even if you have difficult lashes to begin with. This in turn will make it a bit difficult to remove afterwards, so do invest in a good oil cleanser if you want to try this.
Overall my lashes look naturally enhanced, which is my preferred look for a mascara. Ever since I’ve got the hang of it I’ve been wearing it every single day since I got it and therefore it’s safe to say this is my favourite mascara discovery of 2016.
